The AC system in my Volvo might be the best thing about it. Plenty cold at idle, I almost never run the fan at full speed, no need.
We've been doing double time on beans into Cargil. Of course there's a huge push to get every thing moved before Cargil Wichita shuts down for a couple weeks for maint.
Coming up on my last week as a grain hauler. Looking forward to hitting the road again. I have missed it...

Everyone stay hydrated, me and molly must have drunk 1 1/2 gallons of water today. I can take the heat ok,but this dang humidity is killing me.
Cluck Cluck,i have a cousin that pulls a step with his volvo and i went to Tulsa with him, dang thing rode like a dream compared to my day cab,i liked it fine but i did have to get adjusted to the 'cab roll', it was a different 'feel',not bad, just different.
R.W., my cousin won 3 pulls and got 2nd or 3rd in 4 more this summer at the local fairs before he lost his tranny. I got to see him pull last weekend. How did the v-boards work out?
Everyone have a good weekend and stay safe and coolwheathauler and RW. Thank this. -
My truck ac has been keeping up ok, when its really hot like last week has been, I turn on the bunk ac and that seems to help a lot. This humidity has been horrible, seems like you just sweat all the time, but doesn't do anything to cool you.
Dairyman, sounds like your cousin has been doing pretty good, sorry to hear about the tranny. The v-boards worked really well, although this last place I hauled bricks from had them wrapped so much better than the previous place, I might not have even needed them. But I used them on a load of styrofoam insulation last week, so they came in handy again. I'm bringing a RR tie crane back from IN to IL Monday, its not oversize, but its paying really good, I was lucky to find it.Last edited: Jul 24, 2010

Ive been looking to get out of the bulk flour buisness to much 24/7 crap. Were lucky to get 2 days a month off, all the lost time dealing with horizon sucks, i have no idea how they will keep up when they take on the buisness from closing topeka mill. Were suppose to be taking over the soybean oil contarct in september were building a wash out and putting on 25 more trucks. Not sure how we will even find enough drivers to fill them word must be out about our company were short 8 drivers now and cant seem to even hire any in a bad economy .
Our sister company questliner is hauling ethonal from nebraska to oklahoma they pay really well but u have to have hazmat and your out 20 days. I think there getting to big to quick and im afraid a crash and burn is coming.
Have you guys heard any good or bad about drisco? crop jocky -
Good news! (I hope)
A friend of mine who also flies out of our airport told me of an old friend of his who owns a company based in Carlisle, AR. I went out and talked with him for a bit and he'll take me on to haul hopper bottoms in this general area. When I mentioned that I'm currently pulling an end dump, his eyes lit up and he told me they were almost finished refurbishing their dump trailer, and don't have a driver for it right now. So... I may drive hoppers for a week or two, until the dump trailer's ready, but gosh... the mini-regional driving is what I like best (and it pays a bit better).
My current gig is just about to run out, as our last project is nearing its end. The boss told me he understands if I find something else, and to just give him a couple days to hire outside help. I'm the last bulk driver left at the company right now, but I can't pass up a good, solid seat for the sake of another month here. I just hope it works out as well as it looks. -
Good luck on job, Spacer. Doesn't sound bad at all.
