ok now i am starting to get a little curious. my friend started driving for transam about 4 months ago. he leases and has had an issue with them already once. he told me as long as he takes no home time he does good weekly $700-$900. i am taking my permit test next week here in ga and hoping to head to roadmaster in jacksonville two weeks after. i also am getting out of the construction buisiness and just want a steady paycheck. from what i'm reading it makes me want to go with another company. after doing your math old guy 56 ican not see how anyone leasing for transam could make any money. how does it add up to $4000 a month for the lease payment?. i would love all the hidden info on the transam leasing so i could call them on this when they start there speach.

Let me go grab and scan some of my old TransAm settlements. I worked a lease for them, something in the company changed while I was there. I was moving like a mad man for the first 9 months. Were talking $1800 a week, $2300 was my best week there. I called them to make sure they didn't overpay me.

Then there was a shift in life, things changed, suddenly I was sitting for days at a time. And I wasn't the only one. Sometimes I made 300, some weeks it would be 1200. I averaged about 1200 a week. But I got my books around here somewhere and I will show you. I know the lease payment is $5xx a week.

Also I forgot to add, I was at the Rockwall terminal. I don't think they would have moved, they're down the street from the TA. I'm there and I am dropping a trailer, the guard yells at me from his van for my license and comdata card. I told him to hold on a second. I had just driven from Atlanta, please don't do the math. He screams at me, I tell him to wait a fing second.

He gets out of his van, he's about 6'4" and quite solid, walks over to me, 5'10" 155.6lbs, and punches me in the face. And I am just dumbfounded so I continue to stare at him and he punches me two more times in the face. I know it sounds so cliche to say it didn't hurt, but it really didn't. I was just more shocked that this dude hit me, a guy who was hired by my company to protect drivers, and property of TransAm.

Finally I get my thoughts together, I tell him, come on lets go inside its time for you to get fired. I go inside and tell my dispatcher(new one, he didnt last long), he is just as shocked as I was. They take both of us to separate rooms, I tell them what happened. They come back and said, 'Well he said you called him the N word and we don't think there is much we can do about it'

At this point I flip out and I said, 'Bring that motherfer in here, I will call him a N to his face and we can tear up this whole fing office since you mfers aren't doing anything about it.' Then I pull out my phone and I start to dial 911, they ask who I'm calling, I said the police you guys are doing nothing about this I guess we have to get the police involved.

Suddenly the attitude changes towards me and we reach a deal. That dude left immediately and he was no longer allowed to work in that position. It was wrong but it was the best deal I was going to get.

after doing your math old guy 56 ican not see how anyone leasing for transam could make any money. how does it add up to $4000 a month for the lease payment?. i would love all the hidden info on the transam leasing so i could call them on this when they start there speach.

The lease payment IS ONLY THE BEGINNING OF THE CHARGES. There are charges for fuel solution and routings, rent on the APU, tire replacement escrow, repair escrow, insurance, and on and on until it all adds up to about a $ 1,000.00 (minimum) a week. Multiply that by 52 and divide by 12 and you will get $4333.33 per month. Plus if you need excess repairs or blow a tire or two and exceed the amounts held in escrow the balance will be taken out of your next settlement (or however many it takes to get the whole deductible). If you have an accident or damage a trailer the deductible will be taken out of your next settlement (or however many it takes to get the whole deductible). If you are just starting, have not built up your deductible and have some bad luck; it can get very expensive very quickly.

Transam does not care if you make any money. Your function (as a lease operator) is to pay for their truck and haul enough freight to make the payments and expenses. If you manage to make any money, it does not matter to them either way and is merely a by product of their system. Their system guarantees them that there are enough drivers and trucks scattered across the country to have someone free to pick up whatever freight they find to haul. Whether or not you sit for 3 or 4 days waiting on it does not matter to them. You are the one losing money, not TransAm.

old guy 56 i see exactly what your saying. my friend comes home this weekend and i am going to ask to see proof of what his expenses are and what hes been clearing. were good friends and i am sure he will show me. your posts have been a lot of help and i thank you. i thought being in the commercial fishing industry for 20 years i was in the worst one but i guess not. i would hate to get my CDL and sign on with a company then get taken by them. it wouldn't be a pretty sight. i think the one advantage is that the company will not be paying for my CDL. i will own that outright. thanks oldguy56 for your insight.

Even if you called him a stupid ### n_igger, that still doesn't justify him hauling off and hitting you in the face. But the cops wont arrest anybody on assult anymore--it goes to a detective. Then the detective will say yes he was wrong, but you have to fill out a lot more paperwork to have him arrested. Then at most he will get 6 months probation. And in court he will certainly say you called him a n_igger to gain the sympathies of the court.

Man truck drivers are treated badly. I don't get it. It's almost gotten to the point in our society that you have to have a permit to carry a gun.

Ive never had a problem with the grauds there but that is why i keep the little tire bat beside the seat I would of had my butt beat are he would of had alot of knots.
2 times no way I woulda kept my cool
And to the one wanting to know the reports I posted one here awhile back look thru the thread it shows what all your expences are. and if you are worried about goin in the whole when you go home you will unless you think ahead
1.put a little back every week before you go home to pay the payment
    2. tell them to up one of your escrows this will cover the cost when you go home
And I am convinced all you guys are right there is no money to be made at transam go to Jbhunt or something like that
    ......
all major fleets are the same you got to learn to play the game and make money
Above poster stated he was making 700-900 week but he wasnt making any money? This lost me you mean his net bring home was that or before any expences? if it is before expences I call his bluff either he pissed someone off or he is a truck stop jockey
You will not get rich at any trucking company but I will for the last time say you will make money there if you learn the system and treat it as a biz and do not go home every week. Guys are making money at every company some better then others.
I am not saying there the best I am just saying you can make money there

Ya know, the biggest problem I have with TA is all their stupid computer programs. I understand that a lot of them are to "protect" the load BUT some are just frigging stupid!!!!
Currently have my QC unplugged cause I evidently left my reefer on to long while pretripping it and it "communicated" with the confuser in Olathe. Well now, there's seems to be a difference between the 2. Can you say DUH? Even that wouldn't be so bad but evidently the weekend dispatchers can't be trusted to do their job properly either, so that dang thing just can't be turned off till Monday. Every stinking hr I get 2 confuser generated msg's. Screw em and just unplugged the dang thing.
