If you just bought it...why does it matter what anyone on here tells you? Its yours now. You're stuck with it now, good or bad.
I'm no fan of automatics and i would have gone with a 13 speed. And swift and us express are both bottom feeder companies that'll hire pretty much anyone, so....who knows. You might be lucky and have gotten a truck that wasnt horribly abused.
And i'm sure you realize that 470k in 4 years is about average milage for a solo driver. -
You gotta drive an automated, my only complaint is they don't idle backwards. Automatics are horrible and I hate them, automated just takes the shifting away from you.
-
Your post confuses me greatly. I gotta drive an automated? You only have one complaint, but they're horrible and you hate them, but automated just takes the shifting away form you?
Whats the difference?! -
I agree with Phroziac. Why would you buy one then ask about it. Although I would like to know how Lonemountain treated you. Ive heard that the only thing about autos is the backing takes getting used to.
-
You likely made the right choice with what you got. At least the trans was probably not abused as much as a 13 speed with a rookie driver. That 780 is a nice truck. That's what I had when I was with them.
When was the truck built? Take a look on the drivers side door jam, real hard. You don't really need to cross-reference the VIN many times. It's likely a four digit # like 00/00. It may have been built in early '05. In that case, those miles are a bit on the low side, but believable.
Good luck with it.

Let me put it this way, you can give a whole new meaning to the phrase, "Hit the dock".

But with the three pedal auto, it's not that big of an issue. -
I've got Autoshift on my Pete. It took just a little bit to get used to, but I REALLY like it! Great for city traffic and also for MPG.
-
With a two pedal you can "hit the dock" several times in one try. They can also give you whiplash trying to get under a low dropped heavy trailer.
But, in heavy city traffic and mountains, you sure feel refreshed at the end of the day compared to a standard trans. -
Did you just buy it & did you have it inspected before buying?
Pulled ecm fuel mileage?
Run a dyno?
Check oil samples, this info will tell you much about how the truck was treated...
