I've been wondering about how to get A/c to my truck without spending the $8500. Because I'm in this to make money, not spend it. And idleing the truck cost too much. And I don't have a boss or a big bank account to buy one. So, I have thought about the generator and the window unit idea. Which is alot cheaper. But cutting a hole in my sleeper, and still having to buy fuel just didn't seem right either.

One price I've seen, with the unit listed below, is about $8700.. Still too much.

But it's totally battery powered. No fuel needed. And it has a 10 hour run time...
    Check it out.

    Thermoking also has an "APUe"

Is it possible to finance it? What if you're sitting for more than 10 hours?

You can probably finance it. IF your sitting for more than 10 hours, you'll have to start your truck and recharge em.

Thermo king's APUe, will allow you to plug in an extention cord to it also.

    Google portable air conditioners,.....

Use the generator for power,....No need to cut any holes in the sleeper,...

Everything plums out the window when it's in use,...

Me and my g/f team. Not enough room for a stand up a/c. I've thought about it. But I can't find anything to fit in my classic. Already have a motel frig and microwave.

They are not so big that it couldn't be delt with,....

If you team why would you ever need to idle??,.....Why not always be rolling??

We do roll alot. Or at least average. The first moth with this company, we an about 25,000 miles. We don't idle much. Which cut's down on the cost. But idleing is hard on your engine and it cost money.

I'm in this to make money. Not spend it.

    Might check out http://www.bluecooltruck.com/.

Most of our teams enjoy them on the off chance they have to sit for a couple hours. Solo's say after 10 hours your screwed but if it's just for breaks they are sufficient.

While red neck APU's are cheaper short term butchering your truck may hurt trade in value when you try to trade it in. Not to mention carrying gasoline in a separate tank, and having to keep up with it.

I wonder about homemade apu's standing up to the abuse of riding down the highway on a truck - there's a reason apu's are expensive. You'll get your $8500 back in a year and a half.

As long as the generator or A/C unit is off, I don't think there would be alot of abuse.... That's why my friend, told me to get the control knob type A/C, instead of the computer model with the digital readout.
