No the dress did not come off the pig. I have been doing a poll of my own. I have asked at least 200 drivers of various companies to give me a thumbs up or thumbs down of the company they work for. It's not scientific but Werner did have the most thumbs down of any of the companies.

I see what they hire and I cringe sometimes. Sorry but I can't help the fact that they hire so many losers!
I know everybody deserves a job but so many losers equates to negative press in my estimation. Here just pay me and I'll work when I want.

Having said that, I still drive for them and they are treating me well. No I don't make 50,000 a year yet but I'm starting to get a consistent 2200-2400 miles each and every week. They get me home one weekend every two weeks so for now I'm happy.
I'm typing this as I sit at a TA in PA during a 34 hour reset. They schedule that in too. Next weekend I get home.

One of the reasons I quit writing was I really got tired of all the negativity and accusations of being in management. I was also accused of having a secretary edit my blogs. That's funny. I love to write and I can spell believe it or not. I was in management but not in this business.

Some people just can't handle the fact that someone can do well by just having a good attitude.

Here is my motto. I am on time every time, I keep my reefer clean and full of fuel when I go to a shipper 100% of the time, and I let my fleet manager know that when I talk to him. And I don't complain to him either no matter how much I'm pissed. It doesn't help and will leave a negative picture of you in his mind when he hangs up. So do you think he will give you the good runs next time he has one? And I don't trash other drivers.

So I'm still here and working and making a living. I have only been in this business for 8 months, and I went into this thinking I need to get one years experience and then see what my options are. I am right on track.

There is one thing for sure. If they keep giving me these sweet runs, the last two were 700 and 800 miles respectfully, I may even stay here. But of course I have a good attitude. I try to add value to other peoples lives any time I have an opportunity, sincerely and honestly. Believe me it comes back to you when you do. Jesus said you reap what you sow. He knows what he's talking about. It works!

Thanks for posting Bob. I have followed this thread from the beginning and was starting to wonder what's been going on. Ya know, ya start reading a blog like yours and get wrapped up in it almost like a good book really. Glad to hear you're doing well. Keep'er tween the ditches.

FYI, i think you're screwing up by never complaining. Werner fleet managers can kick in a little extra money for things, as they see fit. It's usually not much, they are pretty strictly limited and dont do it much, but they can and do do it. It's a "misc ex", and my dispatcher would say "i'll ex you for it!" I have been told by some guys that worked there a lot longer than i did, that back when CL ran the place, they did this a lot more than they do now.

But i'm not saying to just call up and start going off on your dispatcher. Don't piss him off. But like, i ran canada a lot, and they'd stick me with bad runs because others didnt have passports/wouldnt go. id call up and be like, hey man, i aint making any money on these runs... one time he kicked in an extra $100 from one of these calls. it was STILL a check that wasnt worth turning the key for...but....it was worth the call.

If i'm happy i let my dispatcher know, if im not happy i let him know. But i would never take anything out on him.

I like my new company so much more though. It's nice being able to just pop in the dispatch office and talk to my dispatchers face to face, with no glass. Well, my werner dispatcher slid the window open and shook hands with me, but still. Doesn't it tell you something if they feel a need to keep you from just walking in?

There was another time, i accidently went to a card only toll booth at the ambassador bridge, which does not give receipts. I had to use a credit card. I told him and said the tolls about $25 and he gave me a $25 ex, no questions asked.

    Bob,

Your commitment to the company your driving for is admirable as is your work ethic. I can only base this upon you own words and i am comfortable in doing so as you have not done anything to indicate to me you have any ulterior motives.

However I wish you would have applied the same ethic on the thread you started even after it got tough to do so. I think it could have proven to be something of value. I started reading it due to your committed to seeing things through attitude; however once the posts fell off I found little left of real value to see.

The time between your posts is so great now and the real information so vague I see no reason you would want to continue it. Perhaps you should take the time to ask the mods to lock it

    Just my .02

    all the best,
    Joe

lol. ALD? I was wondering how long before someone commented on it. It's Rhodia in University Park, IL fyi, and it really is a hot tub. The deal is theres a chemical they make that if you get one drop on your skin, it will kill you in 10 minutes, and an ambulance wont get there fast enough to save you. There's a special chemical in that hot tub, so if you get it on you, you just take a dip and it somehow neutralizes the deadly chemical. I don't haul that stuff.. :)

The place is very odd in general. They also have a cooling water pond that they have to keep animals from drinking out of. So there are fake geese swimming in it, and there used to be 3 fake wolves around it....lol. Now therse just half of one....apparently people like to steal fake wolves. WTF?!

    thats...not my username. but ok.
