The 379 I referred to above is a Legacy #992,the Owner of said 1/1000 last run Pete 379's said if he could do it over he would have bought the W9.
He said after looking at the new 389's there would be no doubt his choice would be a W9.

My sincere apologies for being stupid enough to compare a W9 to a T8. I guess not everyone is as smart as you are, bringing up the analogy of an f250 vs a Honda Civic, when the comparison was between a W9 and a T8, two very similar trucks bar the long hood and the steer axle position. I genuflect before your far "superior" intellect. :biggrin_255:

Hey now.. Third party references don't count.. :smt064

But I don't doubt it's true.. There's even a few guys on here that'll say they like freightliners better, but I suspect it's mostly mexicans doing that just because they built em.. They don't count neither.. :smt117

You should've told the guy to wait.. If he'd waited till they built 8 more he could've got a KW.. They're made from leftover parts off a Pete..

On the outside I have to say 379's look better, but on 06 and up the interior, where I spend most of my time, on the W9's are WAY nicer than the Pete's. Havn't had this new truck long enough to give anymore than that though...

Ok FINALLY took out the w9. My empty weight full of fuel and me in it, with trailer(48x102 flat combo) and all my crap (headache rack, chains etc.) was 31,500. My 05 379 was 32,800 no bs. I still need to weigh just the tractor...

And I never said ANYTHING about hood length having ANYTHING to do with ride quality... I can't believe I'm arguing with someone who actually quotes Sarah Palin...

My mistake, I thought ALL T800s were "cab forward" to some extent. It was mentioned simply hoping to include all major differences.

Moving On to Catnips diatribe........ :biggrin_25525:

I havn't made up my mind, but if ur talkin Numbers longer wheel base rides smoother.
AGREED, Somewhat, no argument if you are talking a comparison of identical model but different wb trucks, i.e. two W9s, or two T8s.
However if you are trying to compare a W9 to a T8, then you need to consider the longer leaf springs, and just how much difference in wb are you talking about- as I previously mentioned, at my former workplace, the T8s that replaced the W9s while shorter wb, were pretty close to the same length.

Just how rough did the T8s that you drove ride???????
OOPS, forgot! YOU NEVER drove any T8s.............

    If a T8 has a 265 wb then it's not a setback axle.
    WRONG, WRONG, WRONG!!!!!!!!
    How can you say that?
    THINK about it!
4 axle T8s such as lo boy trucks are pretty common in my area, lift axle being ahead of the drives. T8s equipped with a roll off chassis also come to mind.
Show me the rule that limits the wb of a set back axle truck!!

    I thought they were 235, but even 240 that's still 25".
But NOT 30" as you stated.......all right, I'm nitpicking
I also thought that when you are riding right over your steer axle that makes for a rougher ride.
Somewhat true, but once again, longer springs can be a big boost in ride quality. Just how rough was the ride of the T8s you drove?????
CRAP......keep forgetting..... you are giving an opinion about the ride of a truck you have never driven. At least tell me you have ridden in one?? NO......?

OK, How about sitting in one while it was parked, was it rough ?
    :biggrin_2559:

If a T8 rides smoother then more power to ya. I don't care. It just doesn't seem possible to me cuz I have always heard the longer the wb the smooter the ride.

And If a T8 has a 265wb, then just how is it more versatile exactly?
    [/QUOTE]
Going to stick my neck out here, and GUESS that they would steer shorter than a W9 of the same wb because the setback axle design.

Based on having driven both model trucks in similar conditions, my point is that I could replace my 265" W9 with a 240" T8, and gain maneuverability, without sacrificing any ride quality.

    What's wrong with Sarah Palin?
Not bad looking, IMHO, intelligent, long wb, probably has a nice ride.......
Apparently you would prefer I quote Nobama, or Biden?
Excuse me while I go puke......
