I don't think so. It has more to do with the insurance I believe.

Anyway, look up the word "lease" and see what it means, or better yet read the carriers "lease" agreement you signed when you "leased" on..
I suppose an agreement could be arranged but who would want the extra expense..
A motor carrier's number is only active provided that they maintain the minimum insurance requirements.. So if you mean to base your authority on the fact that you have insurance through another carrier you're leased to, then no, that dog won't hunt.. :smt115 -

what you can do with a lot of companies is get your own authority and get setup to pull their freight for them on a contract basis. This is why you'll see one company pulling another companies trailers..for example, if you live near the ontario border, you might see some Muskoka Transportation (a canadian company) trucks pulling Werner trailers. Or there are some o/os with their own authority pulling JB Hunt trailers...landstar does it too, but i dont know if they use company trailers for it..
And the best part is they usually pay you a LOT more this way. For example, JB Hunt's o/o leases are set up to make you fail, but they actually pay decent rates to outside carriers to pull their trailers... -
A while back on I-55 just south of chicago I seen a JB Hunt truck pulling a werner trailer. Then a few days later at the home depot dc in romeoville ,IL I was making my way back to the guardshack and I see another JB Hunt truck pulling a werner trailer. I wonder what was up with that?
