This is what happens when you go too fast for conditions...the pig hauler had jack knifed due to poor road conditions...Swift truck was going to fast with poor visibility..didn't see the truck across the road and plowed right into it...driver of pig hauler was unhurt...swift driver was taking to the hospital where he later died...just goes to show you no matter how good you think you are at driving in adverse conditions you really need to drive according to road conditions...just a note....last pic is a little gory...and before you all start going off about how bad Swift is...lets just remember that this driver paid for his mistakes with his life...and luckily no one else died (other than the pigs that is)...I know how most of you feel about Swit..no need to re-iterate it here

I hate to bring this up but this is one example why limiting the speed of all trucks isn't the solution, here is a swift truck thats governed.sad but true accidents happen and people will die.my condoliences to his family

Was this in the upper midwest just recently, cause looks like a lot of snow. Speed and snow don't mix. Especialy wth a big truck.

Swift was not the only bad driver here. That Pig driver probably past the Swift truck. But then that is only a speculation, it is clear though that the pig driver lost controll first. It is a shame that drivers haave to die like this.

My heart goes out to the family of the driver killed.

My bet is that the driver was not very experienced.

From my limited experience, LIVESTOCK HAULERS, ALWAYS DRIVE FAST!!!

Experience is not necessarily an indication of ones ability to drive....I have seen MANY more "owner op-style" rigs in the ditch this winter....even though the big 10 companies drive most of the trucks....

Yep..you're right. I doubt that many of them have long careers.

It runs in cycles. I've seen it both ways. Two weeks ago, I eased my way down out of Wisconsin in a 300 mile blizzard. The fact that I was out there was a risk on my part, and there were plenty of cars to dodge out there. Some people will drive through ANYTHING to get to those casinos on the weekend.

In spite of the weather conditions, I saw very few accidents but I did see some people that were driving WAY too fast. The plows had given up. The few trucks that passed me, had them wound up. Only one of them was from a company that we'd all recognize. It was a Gainey truck. He had to be doing 70 mph. The rest were from smaller carriers that were more local to the area.
