    There you told on yourself....

You couldn't get the fuel mileage...I know the feeling, I struggled with it myself for over a year.

But I finally figured it out...for this truck at least.

I average 52 mph, I cruise at 60-62, but I can hold it at 65 mph and still get the minimum required fuel mileage if I don't use the cruise control (I know thats backwards to what most of you have seen...but it works in this truck).

If its hot...I idle. If its cold, I idle. The new trucks have EPU's though, no need to idle.

Per diem is not forced on anyone.

Super singles are OK in my book. I've been running them for quite some time and I've never blown one...yet (probably shouldn't have said that)

    There...consider yourself proven wrong.

    HoosierHunter Thanks this.

No I didn't tell on myself. My fuel mileage was fine. Even got a letter from my FM placing me in his top ten. It was along time ago can't remember if they were giving a bonus then or not

I know per-diem is not forced. It was an example

I've never had Super singles I just see others sitting on the road because of them.

My problem with Maverick was the methods they use to achieve these things. To me it was an insult to my intelligence.

Best of luck and continued success

Yes and it was in reference to trucking being a "lifestlye"

That I kinda understand...but ALL trucking companies feed you some BS. Mostly because the "powers that be" believe it themselves, not because they want to lie to you.

Trends get started and perpetuated...its a ripple effect that ripples all the way across the pond.

But if you just learn to go along...you can still be successful. And thats the only part I'm concerned about.

Vorad for instance...what a joke, I don't even notice it anymore (got used to it) I made it all those years without it and could make it a few more I reckon...but I didn't pay for the truck, Maverick did.

    Lane departure thingamabob...same deal.

Autoshift...biggest piece of $h1t ever designed, but...its Mavericks truck, not mine.

I despise all those things...but they don't keep me from being successful.

You see...I'm not drunk on the purple Kool Aid. (at least not blind drunk)

But I know a good job when I see one :biggrin_25525:

Yeah you know a lot. You get your facts from truck stop rags. When I was with mav my truck would run 70. I pushed it sometimes. Mostly going home. I avg 65 loaded and ran about 60 empty. I idled when I needed to . Hot or cold. I always got the fuel bonus. I was in the top 1/3rd of the fleet. 1500 trucks and in the top 10 of my FM's board. So I don't want to hear your cb truck stop info. You pass me?:biggrin_25523: Another laugh. My last truck was a triple digit, long nose pete with a 18 speed.

This is not meant as a slam, but I have noticed most people that defend these outfits always speak of them in the past tense.

I'm sure you had your reasons for leaving them, be it personal, or financial (better job).

I don't see much longevity in this industry. At most of these outfits, after one year you are the senior guy. The turnover rate is astounding.

Some people say that these outfits get tax money to train and provide employment. Maybe they do since it seems it would be more cost effective to pay the good employees more to keep them.
