I have recently been diagnosed with osa, I am a trainee with them right now, they had me do a sleep study the total will cost me a total of $1970 with 300.00 down and they take out the rest thru my weekly settlements until its paid off. they have partnered with sleeppointe.they give me plenty of support as I have had to call first on a daily basis then weekly. I just had a meeting with sleeppointe they went over my numbers even though at times I was not dot compliant then can tell that I was using the machine every night apparently they are trying to figure out where the mask is not working. they report to my company(prime inc) and the dot and they tell me as long as i am using the machine.I think my biggest issue is trying to sleep while the truck is moving since I am teaming with a trainer until I get my own truck. Has anyone had this issue trying to use a cpap machine while the truck is moving?

I sure appreciate this thread.
Many truckers have it and it's the unknown getting one.
I had to pay for the sleep study because of my deductible, but my insurance is going to cover the machine as long as I follow the rules.
I don't think there should be compliance rules. But there are and I give in. UNCLE
It's set finally! I get mine Aug 2. -
This sounds good on the surface however, problems can arrise. 1. Most people in order to have successful treatment, will need some support. When you pay the higher price at the Durable Medical Equipment provider (DME) you are paying for that support. 2. You must get the right machine. You need a machine that will tell your doctor that the machine is actually doing what it should. This is necessary in order for the sleep Doctor to write a compliance letter so you can get you medical card. 3. You also need to get a machine that is equipped appropriately for you so that you can get a comfortable treatment. For example if the mask does not work, who is going to help you get a new one.
And there are many other issues that I could share, so getting a machine over the internet is not a good practice.

what's "the rules?'

I agree with you gary, you definitely need support the company i work for prime has partnered with sleeppointe, they do the sleep study at the hotel owned by prime and once you start the program for the first week must call your assigned counselor every day with your sleep numbers you get off the machine. after that it turns into once a week until i believe you go back for your dot exam after 3 months then i think it turns to quartely. they gave me a link to site that they have partnered with trippak so i can send in the downloadable info from the machine thru my laptop. i do this once a month.so for almost 2 grand i get quite a bit of customer service as far as this goes.

You might also want to contact Truckerdad57. He is a truck driving expert on sleep apnea who spoke at a recent symposium for sleep doctors and trucking companies. He helped me out a great deal.

Yes I am in contact with him as well.

Ok, I was told I had to go see the sleep doctor.
I did. First thing they start talking about is the cost of the sleep test and machines.
I'm like I'm here for a consult and you want to do a sleep test also??
I believe it is a scam...
I'm big Well FAT.
Then the doc. sees me and says yep you need the test.
Just looks at my question sheet and looks in my throat and nose.
I feel I'm found gulity even before the sleep study.
Now I have to take the sleep test next week.
As I'm paying for the test they start talking about the different machines I can buy...
WTF?? I haven't even done the study yet..
Can I go somewhere else now and get a different view??
Please help..
Thanks
