I can't beleive this thread has gone so far considering the initial poster has never been seen or heard from again. Easy to say a company sucks and then disappear.

I now work for a company that loads Marten trucks. I talk to the drivers everyday. The drivers NEVER have anything good to say and one even stated to me "In 27 years of driving, I have never been so miserable". They are always late picking up loads, never deliver on-time. Poor load planning I guess????
They do have great equipment, we never have problems with the trailers, their staff is great to work with. It's sad to see a company that has all the right tools in place to be a "great company" but they don't seem to utilize what they have.
Just my 2 cents on the Company... -
I'm going to ' steal' this. print it up and pass it around Mondovi when i get there for service later today

Funny but so...True! Yea, its going on my FaceBook LOL...

Yes poor planniong on the part of Marten Planners.
Our trucks 2500+are in the middle of being converted to E logs, Safety Dept, and drivers are on the same page. Dispatch and planners are still planning loads by paper logs.
You would be amazed at how many loads have to be repowered by other trucks, because the driver who picked the load up, said to his dispatecher, I can not get it to del on time, due to my elogs says i have to shut down no later than, (add the time). Dispatcher says, Load and run, and we will swap/ repower enroute. So when they look for a truck to repower, they run into a bunch of trucks on e logs, who cannot do the repower, because thier e logs won't let them.
Mind you, on each truck screen on thier dispatchers computer, if i'ts a e log truck, they can see for them selves how many hours that driver has worked for the day, as well as how many hours he / she has left out of thier 70. And they seem to ignor that. -
Makes sense the entire fleet would be a scattered mess with 1/2 the fleet on paper logs and 1/2 the fleet paperless. As I said, I work with the company and they are good to work with and this info does help me more than you know when it comes to dispatching our freight. Thanks for the info!

You kind of hit it on the head. The equipment is good. The trucks pull and are spec'd for driver comfort, and the trailers are reliable and well serviced...and Customer Service, Claims, etc (non-driver related departments) are really nice, functional people, by and large.
Somehow, though...just somehow, the circuits aren't connected in the load planning/dispatching/driver communications department.
@Ski: I'm going to stick to my opinion on the e-logs thing. It doesn't matter if the FMs have our hours in front of them in 108pt font, if they don't know what it means it doesn't help anybody. -
I don't think you know what your'e talking about. On pre loaded trls we don't always pickup on time, but you can bet they are delivered on time 98 percent of the time.
Busted Thanks this. -
Yes do plenty of drop n hooks, in fact im on my way now to get a preloaded trailer that was ready 12 hours ago.

I have gotten preloaded trailers that have been sitting there waiting for three days. Then you got to haul arse with it to get it there on time. Most recent one was a bud load out of new jersey, and it did deliver on time, but just barely.
