12 hours maximum on duty per day, starting at 6:00am, ending at 10:00pm. From the hours of 10:00pm to 6:00am, not driving or working is allowed.

Shippers and Receivers will have to stop the overnight loading and unloading, States will be required to increase parking areas for trucks, drivers are required to be given the option to take 2 days off for every 5 days worked.

    I'm lazy, what can I say :)

That would'nt work for me. I do some of my best work at night while the solar powered drivers are sleeping. On the highways that I frequent I-10, I-35, I-20, I-75, I-65,I-85and I-95, night riding is a given. It's the only time that you can really turn the miles.

Thats how I drive as well. as far as i am concerned, until they can govern what I am doing while I am off duty, there is no assurance that even after a 34 hour restart I am rested enough to drive an 11 hour day in a heavy traffic area without stopping and losing time against my 14.

Notes can you delete this and then e-mail me how to delete them? I looked and looked on how to do this and can't find it. Please before I get a warning!

    Take that. :toothy3:

Are you tasting shoe leather, or, were you barefooted?

Seriously, what did you say that could be considered out of line and require a warning.

Bring back the sleeper berth split that got taken away in the last change. It would help team drivers be more safe. That's what it's SUPPOSED to be about, isn't it?

Without going into great detail I would revert to the rules we had prior to the ones we have now. They gave the driver greater flexibility to take a nap and not suffer a penalty for doing so.
I agree with lil daddy when he says we should be able to log it as we do it, but I really don't think that would fly nowadays.

I simply would like to see a driver be able to stop for 2-3 hours to take a nap if he needs to, and the 2-3 hours be added to the 14.. This to me is a safer way for a driver to run. If he gets tired and lets say is he stops for 2 hours to nap then that would put him over his 14 thus making him late to his appointment.(because he would have to take a 10hr break when he is 1.5hrs away) All companies attitudes toward this is you accepted the load you need to deliver it on time. So, this makes the driver fill pressured he must keep driving or possible be wrote up or even terminated.

All companies say we understand and if you get tired then pull over but the truth is that decision could cost you your job. This is where the pressure is to keep driving.

Bottom line there needs to be a way for a driver to take a nap, and that time be added to his 14 to extend his day.
The current rules make it unsafe.....
