I live in the Tampa Bay area and I have my class A CDL that I got back in 1992 I never really got to use it. So pretty much no experiance, The economy has made me consider going OTR. What company would be good for me ? I don't want to go through a mill. I think because I already have my CDL I just need to ride with someone for a month ? Thanks for any help.

And screw the Globalists and the new world order !!!

i'm thinking that more than likely that any major company is going to make you take a refresher course

Depends on the company. There's also the occasional option of running for a smaller outfit without the standardized insurance requirements. That's something you just have to network and dig for, though.
I'm an experienced driver who dropped out for a few years to wrench on airplanes... and found myself outside the 'recent experience' box. Still a good driver, but somehow found myself less insurable than the average Swift newbie. So, I'm hauling bulk on a local basis, moving out to regional. This way I can work my way back into marketability without having to stoop to begging at CR England or PAM's doors.

What other company"s big and small are good for someone that has not been OTR in years but has a CDL class "A" but not much experiance.

And can anyone tell me why is it that all you hear about is how there is a Trucker shortage and the industry needs people so bad and they will be short 250,000 drivers by 2012 blah blah blah. but yet its hard to get work ?

This thread might help, but the OP had some experience, just not OTR. You have none at all, if I read you correctly. Is your medical card current?

Try Windy Hill. They are out of Eustis, Fl. Small mom and pop company and they may over look the whole refresher course thing.
