OKey my buddy's little brother went otr for Swift and worked there for a year.
Well he only went otr (has 4 kids and a wife) so he could get a better chance at a local bid.
But here is the thing he got hired,bya trash company and drives one of their trash trucks.
Well he makes real good money per hour and the thing he gets home every night and loves it.
But the 18 wheelers are makeing fun of him saying he isn't a real truck driver?????????
He is expeted to make$45,000 a year(he made $31000 from Swift) so a $16000,increase and putting no time in a sleeper (time away for home was 3 weeks to 4 with the otr.
He loves it and for a area that there are no jobs,hell i saw a local company that had dump trucks makeing $12.00 a hour and that was for any that had a year exp?

But what do you think,should they kid him on the radio just cause he no longer drives otr and went with the time with his kids and wife?

He expected the kidding but after i heard the other truckers makeing fun of him,i felt to each his own.
I told him to tell the others ,yes he is a trash man but tell them that he makes more and with all the time off he could not only make his wife happy but could also take care of the otr guys wife that rib he all the time
Myself i think it's great and wouldn't care one bit to drive for rumpke.
Nothing to be ashamed about IMOP.

I'm sure it wasn't ALL the 18-wheelers.....just those whose capacity for original thought is non-existent. Generally, people who find pleasure in making fun of others have self-esteem issues of their own. In some controverted way, putting someone else down makes them feel a little better about themselves. So, bottom line is, for your buddy's little brother to give a tinker's #### about what such people think is a complete waste of his energy.
