Centramatic's definately improved my tire life on my steers so far, but I have not noticed any improvement in m.p.g. because of them. as far as removing hood deflector, that hood deflector may keep your windshield from getting cracked from vehicles, especially trucks, throwing up rocks from roadway.
-
Centramtics get rid of some vibrations, and balance your wheels/tires. I had them all the way around my freightliner when I had it and my tires seemed to wear a lot better, I don't see how balanced wheels will give you a 1/4mi. gain in fuel milage.

It takes energy to produce vibrations, however if you can remove the source of the vibration then you just saved how ever much energy it took to produce the vibration. In physics I think it would fall into the "laws of conservation" but in a nutshell what it means is, "less rolling resistance". Kinda like a well balanced engine will produce more hp since less energy is lost to vibrations.
Some physics dude on here could probably explain it much better. -
But a Quarter mpg? I'm pretty sure centramatic would advertise that.

Lego 1970, I could use different words to explain the physics, but you said pretty darn good. You didn't leave much room for improvement. Your analogy was spot on, exactly right and a good one because most will understand it.
And of course, mileage increase would depend on how bad the tires/wheels were out of balance before.lego1970 Thanks this. -
I hear ya, 1/4 mpg is quite a bit, but under the right circumstances......maybe?

Hello, new to this forum and just bought a 610. I was looking at how to remove the roof mounted air deflector. Held on with the torque head screws and I can't see any of the nuts from inside the cab. It would be too good to find out that the nuts don't have to be held while I turn the bolts out.
Using this truck as a personal vehicle and plan to pull my boat with it. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. -
i know from exp that airtabs work on aircraft--in that application they are called vortex generators--they help to clean up the air going over the top of the wing--thereby improving lift--with them it will rate your gross takeoff weight higher---
i guess they could work the same on a truck--seems they will clean the air at rear sides of cab so it goes onto trailer smoother--that will reduce drag and mpg should go up---i imagine the closer you can bring the trailer in would help as well when you use the tabs -
just turn the bolts out on the airdeflector--then put them back in with a tiny bit of silicone
