O.K. I just read all 17 pages of this thread, so pls leave the legal/ technical stuff out and tell me if it is "alright" to get a Magnum S6 convert it and stay on the C.B. range.
P.S. any recommendations for a similar radio would be great.

alright by whose standards?
Your local 4 wheeling club or trucker buddies? yes
The FCC? noChain Drive Thanks this. -
all I want to know is if someone is going to kick down my door if I behave myself as I said. I understand why the "hammers" get so upset, I don't want to argue let's face it some things will never change, you guys can quote fcc regs all day. I just want some advise on running a "big radio" without pissing off too many people
-
also wondering if the laws are so strict for us Canucks, and yes I know they are still Illegal
-
I asked what is so important on the 10 meter side that you need to have a licence is it an entitlement ? because you have passed the test? what if you just want to reach out & talk to someone ? respectably. Rubber Man has obviously been crated away by the FCC, if you want to pop in and wave a hand whats the big deal ????

oh chaindrive, I wasn't being argumentative, sorry if I came across like that.
I don't think anybody will be busting down your doors. S6 is a good radio. I found the receive very sensitive and the ones I've heard sound great.
Hope this doesn't fall into the advertising bit, but a very good and reputable cb tech, is Sparky. you can google sparky's cb shack and check out his forum and site. The guy is very thorough.Chain Drive Thanks this. -
So, Why NOT? The major reason is, the promotion of "good order and effective communications". Amateur radio (and other radio services) has its own protocol, it own set of rules (Part 97 for amateur radio), and it is MUCH more strict in its voice procedures. "Wavin' a hand', "Whut's yer 20 thar", and all the other cutesy, tootsie sayings of CB are NOT welcomed, and, indeed, is often SCORNED! Next, the amateurs are NOT permitted to TALK to unlicensed stations, so again, these attempts to be "friendly" (cuz I don't see no harm in a-tawkin' to them thar hams thar", etc, etc) are to be ignored. Most of them will simply talk OVER the top of you without acknowledging your presence. Meantime, they MAY be on the phone making plans to DF (direction find) your station by triangulation, and if you think you can't be found: THINK AGAIN!!!! VE have Vays mein freund und ve CAN find you, ja!!! We are usually VERY good at it!!!!!! Talking on 10 Meters, or any OTHER frequency without the license is like gambling with a cobra snake. You might get away with it for little while, then one day......................BOOM! You're caught! VERY FUNNY for the hams to read about you in the FCC enforcement pages (if you are IN the US), NOT funny wondering HOW you will pay the $10,000 fine!!!! And those hams, no matter what you think of THEM for turning you in, will HELP you get that fine if they can!!!!!! That's the OTHER reason to stay OFF 10 meters; it simply won't be tolerated. More CBers have gotten caught for this than CB rumor and urban legend has let on!!!!!! Look at it this way: If you think it is so OK to filch frequencies from legally licensed, and AUTHORIZED stations, WHY don't you go onto the local police frequencies and FILCH THEIR channels? ("GRE'T MERCY ME THAR, MR PO-LEECE MAN THAR, UM GREAT MERCY SAKES THAR, AH WUZ JIST A-WAVIN' A HAND ATCHA THAR, AH GAR-UN-TOLDJEE, SHORE THANG THAR!!!!!" See how that works out for ya!
So then, while this may seem a bit over the top for ya, it is the reason(s) why you must NOT go onto 10 Meters! The hams won't stand for it!!!

Hummmm .....
Does this mean that I can drive a 18 wheeler without a license because I feel free to do so ? -
Sure, but I'm betting you struggle with apples to oranges comparisons
pretty regularly.
Can you take a CDL test and pay acouple bucks and go trucking ?
Read This twice if you have to,
The ONLY PEOPLE concerned with FCC Regulations regarding 10-2 meter bands are the Ham Op's,Wanna BE Ham Op's or old"got tired of the crap" Ham Op's you find on Internet Forums.
The many HUNDREDS/THOUSANDS Ive talked with over the years
have never once whined or complained much less made a legal threat/advisory to regulations. " N O N E "(FYI thats less then zero)
So can the Elitist FCC Horse #### and "act" like your "alleged brethren".
NOBODY REALLY CARES,NO.....THEY REALLY DONT!!
Shippers/Receivers DONT CARE!
DOT DONT CARE!
Speed Cops,DONT CARE!!
FCC doesn't police the roadways of the USA,if "they cared" they would be there.
Its "trivial",time consuming and therefore by their action(s)
THEY DONT CARE!!

Even our Company got letters telling the Drivers to remove the Exports. Or face Fines of up to $10,000. And if you check you will see that it has happened to many Companies over ther years.
