klown,
Use the search feature, check them out !!! -
Your only making $0.23 a mile. You are getting ripped off if you ask me. The $0.09 a mile is coming out of your pocket, if the form of tax money that you won't be getting at the end of the year.
With a per diem that high your pretty much shooting yourself in the foot when it comes to getting a home, any loan, unemployment benefits, god forbid disability benefits, and if its still around social security benefits. Your yearly income will be determined by $0.23 a mile not $0.32, so I'm sure you can see where the problem is.
Per diem benefits the company more then it does the driver. Do you think they will be able to attract driver with just $0.23 a mile? They pay less unemployment taxes, and driver pay, and one or 2 other taxes that I can't remember.
I don't want to ruin your parade but just thought I would post some facts about their pay scale. Good luckLast edited: Aug 5, 2010

BUT >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
wait for it...................................
He IS getting lotsa miles !!!!!!! -
Worked for companies that did per diem and never had any problems with taxes or getting credit. Yes you will have a smaller taxable gross income but you also will probably get more back at the end of year because of the lower gross. I don't know where everyone comes up that it is illegal.Get used to it because it is the future of the business.
Everett Thanks this. -
Nobody said it was illegal.........................
Perhaps it's illegal to force you to take it............
I 'm not so sure it's the future of the business, if it was they'd all be on the bandwagon. -
Great truck driver logic...... "Yes you will have a smaller taxable gross income but you also will probably get more back at the end of year because of the lower gross."
Its a bad thing for drivers. They are basically paying you with your own tax break while lining their own pockets.
THE COMPANY IS PAYING YOU $0.23 A MILE. YOU ARE PAYING YOURSELF $0.09 A MILE. Ask if they take out a administration fee for the per diem, some companies take $0.01 - $0.02 a mile. -
My credit is good enough, I appreciate your concern but I can handle myself. This is not a career for me, this is a means to the end. Since I have no bills, no home, I save lots of money. Two years of trucking got me a bachelors. This next year of work, along with working the summer months will get me through law school.
So if you have any other concerns, PM me. Don't mess with a thread because you don't like a company's policies. You're not working here.Everett and roaddawg92 Thank this. -
Okay talk too several big companys, all about said same thing, like i could care less about home time, but i do have a apt with a lease so il keep that for times i need away from truck, some me time, anyway all the company's treating me like a newbee, i got over 11 in , in trucking, seen things most truckdrivers shouldnt see, i like butler for the fact there only 300 miles from me, i can drive down there and i know were there are,so about sept when i get my vac in , ill see what they have too say about that 2 years thing and other stuff, thank's for very nice thread.

If you put in an application, let me know first so I can get that referral money. Also they will fly you in if you don't want to drive.
