Hi all I am thinking of buying a F650 with a 18 foot box on it . I was wondering If I or my drivers would need a CDL to drive a truck of this size. We currently drive E450 and F450 with like 16 foot boxes on them. We are in the construction business and we just wear them out to fast as we load them to the max and are just hard on them . Looking to get a little heaver truck that will hold up a little better. We currently need to have medical cards but don't need to have CDL to drive . i don't want to jump into a bigger truck if this puts us in a whole different category . We do our business in Michigan and Ohio thanks for the help Scooter
do i need a CDL ?

if the GVW is less the 26,000 pounds then no CDL is required
-
i think it is rated at 27000 gvw does that mean as long as I dont load it over 26000 lbs I'm OK ?
-
No. That means that who ever drives that vehicle has to have a minimum of a class B CDL.
-
My F-450 requires a cdl..class B !!!!
-
How is that American Hippy?
I have not seen a F-450 that grossed over 16k lbs., not saying it aint possible, but I'm just saying.... -
If the GVW is 26,001 & higher you need a CDL,
