I was wanting to know if a driver has to take his days off in his home state or can he or she request time off where they want to? Thanks in advance for the input.
Can days off be some place other than your home state.

You can pretty much take them anywhere you want as far as most companies are concerned. But they aren't going to let you deadhead to the places you might want to spend your time off.
gsmith2332 Thanks this. -
It has to be continental US, no Alaska or Hawaii.
But really most don't care.gsmith2332 Thanks this. -

If you are talking about taking your days off where ever you happen to be? Oh yes, they are gonna love that!

Hubcap, not so much where ever I am just some other states where I happen to have family. I am sure they would love what you mentioned above.

I have had dispatchers that would work with me on that. But it is give and take. You might have to pull their butt out of the fire a few times.
Let's say you had relatives in Roosevelt Oklahoma and you just delivered to Altus Oklahoma and your company hauled regularly out of a company in Jacksboro Texas. You spend your two days off visiting relatives in Roosevelt and head to Jacksboro for a load when it is over.
That said, it almost never happens like this but it is nice to dream. And there are dispatchers who will inconvenience you just because they can....even if it costs the company money! It is not like the country has a love affair with truckers.gsmith2332 Thanks this. -
Thanks for your insight hubcap.
