Truth is most new drivers have a considerable amount of adjusting to do, as do there families.

Its the First companies thats telling them all the good news, like by the way your not going home for up to a month at a time. Your not going to be making the big money you thought you were.

You do not get to stop a place you always wanted to see you have an appointment to keep.

Oh yeah, your not going to be home for your anniversary, your kids birthdays, Thanksgiving or Christmas.

Yes you will miss your sons first little league game, or your daughters first band performance.

Or the best one, your wife called your loosing your house, shes moving in with her mother and she said don't bother calling.

All this crap has nothing to do with the first company that hired and trained you, it just happens to most during the first year and it sucks, but it's called Welcome to truckin.....

It does suck, but its not the companies fault. It is up to you to decide how much of this you will put up with. Your the one who has to draw the line in the sand and let them know when you've been pushed past it. You have the choices in your life, but if you do not make them the company will decide it for you and it will be in there favor.

This is very true. Sounds like what i went through with Werner when i first started out. Thay will run your life and make all your choices for you and you as said driver can only take so much befor your breaking point is hit.

The truth is OTR T/L drivers largely fall into one of the following categories.

    1. "What in the heck did I get involved with?" - planning exit.

    2. Those who think 'GWB-Obama-Clinton' was our best President(s) ever and still think Jeff Gannon was just a WH 'visitor'.

    3. Those who are trying to figure out how to make one of those well hung young men their 'wife'.

    4. Those who have questionable legal and employment histories.

    5. Those who live in areas where there is no other reasonable employment available.

    6. Those who just don't have a clue.

OTR T/L freight is an employment trap. Avoid if at all possible.:biggrin_25521:

It would be impossible for anyone to possibly guess what they were in store. Since we are all have simular experiences but what we do with them changes the outcome. We all did however wonder this on many occassions.

Well the Bushes were dertainly characters at best, But all men have to thank Bill for removing at least one item from the sexual encouter field with his famous "I did not have sex with that women". Obama that would take a whole hard drive on its own, The short version is I believe he is on his own agenda that has nothing to do with what is good for our country.

I'va really never been approached in this way so I have difficulty commenting on this except, that you tend to find what you look for. If you loook for the bad or good in a given situation I guess you can find it, except for the Rest Areas on ST99 in Central Cal.

I actually find just the oppsite here. The transportation industry does a bit more complete background check thean most others. I had a sercurity check for my Haz,at renewal, An additional for the for TWIX card and still two more additional higher level checks to be able to have access to Groom Lake, Nellis, Edwards and Naval weapons at hawthorne and Seal Beach. No I do not think this would be a good place to hide, ot at all.

now this very well maybe true.

I;m really not sure what your implying or refering to here, a clue as to what. And if you have not experienced something how could you possibly imagine what your in for.

Nothing could be futher from the truth, just depends on when you decide to take control of your life and were it is going. Either you decide or you let others decide but someone decides what your next move is going to be. You always have a choice, therefore not a trap, you can leave anytime you choose.

You don't even have to be an owner op to do that:biggrin_255:

You do have to stay away from the Werners and other bottom feeder incs. The whole go to this school for a month and then polish up with us two weeks in a class room, and then stay in a hotel for two weeks while we find a trainer who is going to let you team with them for 6 weeks all for dinner money ($200 a week, less if you count the school time when you earn nothing) is why this cat's wife left him and he lost his house. Crap that's 14-16 weeks with no income. Thats where Bottom feeder Inc. wants a driver broke, in debt, and desperate so that 27 cents a mile looks REAL good and he has to spend the next six months with basically no hometime to speak of to try to get back to even.

The first year is why drivers don't last, I was lucky and had plenty of family in trucking that showed me better. I also LISTENED to the older drivers who kept me steered away from the Werners, Primes, JB Hunts, and Swifts.

People want to know what is differnet and wrong with trucking today, its you. Plain and simple. Attacking with some kind of idea that you think your superior to all the people that have gone before.

Well I have news for you, your showing your ignorance. Your showing what is wrong with the industry. In a nut shell you are what wrong, attacking instead of offering assistance to other whom very well may have benefited from your experience, but no you choose to attack. This does not make you stronger, it shows your weakness.

The purpose of this board is for driver to help other drivers. I hope you understand that the above comments are intended to assist you, not knock you down.
