Everything is packed. Just gotta load up in vehicle and about 1230 go pick up a buddy. Dahlsten is having us take their company car up to Clay Center, NE for orientation. Have separate rooms for us at the Comfort Inn in Hastings, NE. A couple days of orientation and then a few days of training on pneumatic trailers then we get our own trucks.
Doesnt' sound like orientation pay is much. 45 bucks a day. But they do feed us twice and put us up in rooms plus we use their transportation. Can't complain there. Training pay is 150 dollars per day. They said training 3 days or however long before we feel comfortable and safe on the trailers. I've never used a pneumatic before but I'm sure I'll pick it up quick.
Pretty excited and nervous. Gonna make quite a bit more money but still the unknown is there. Not really second guessing my decision to hire on there but there is a tinge of doubt, ya know.
At any rate I'm anxious to get the show on the road and prove myself to a company that I've heard nothing but great things about.

Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

Well, first day of orientation went smooth. Back in the hotel, already ate. Physical ability tests tomorrow then qualcom stuff and road test. Should all be a breeze. Then a ride to Lincoln and picking up the truck I'm going to be assigned for now. Then I'll take that back home, to the terminal in Hutch and start the pneumatic training on Wednesday.
I'm still really impressed with the office people and dispatch personnel. They did say they have picked up accounts that are runs to Buffalo, NY and some place in Pennsylvania. Along with runs out to Utah, New Mexico and California. Initially it was only the Midwest but I'm glad it will be more than that.
I'll just be glad to get this part of the process done and get the wheels turning...... -
Just curious, what are you hauling? Cement products or what?
-
Congratulations and good luck!

Mostly food grade....sugar, flour, salt, corn etc...
My first load is for delivery in Austin, MN Monday morning. Been getting training in loading, unloading and washing/drying the trailers. Contamination is a big concern on these and there's alot of different procedures depending where you are loading/unloading at.
Sometimes we will haul sand or other non-food grade products but doesn't sound like that happens much. -
Right on.....thanks man.

Just wondering how you're getting along with Dahlsten? I worked for them oct 07 to april 08 only 6 months but really enjoyed it pulling a tank. The pay could of been better was only .33/mile then. got a job being home every night. They're all really good people I thought.
