If having a driving career is what your father wants, please tell him to stick it out. Most reputable companies will NOT hire anyone without at least 2 years experience.
I am a COMPANY driver with TA at the moment and yes TA has some really stupid policies and a lot of BS going on. How bad does he want to drive? If he quits, he could probably get on with somebody like Swift or Central but....... As a company driver with TA, he'll have the comforts they don't have. An APU with an inverter attached and a small fridge. Doesn't sound like much does it? It is. I save a bunch of money by buying my own food etc. Have my own microwave etc. Swift and Central and all them others, have pretty strict idle policies that TA doesn't have cause of the APU's.
Will be coming thru the Rockwall yd tonight but doubt he will be there by then. Hope this has helped some.

Maybe i dont understand because i'am an o/o but why do so many people let the trucking companys treat them like crap, maybe if more and more stuck up for themselves all this bs would stop ,but as long as everyone just bends over and takes it in the rear it never will.

People, People, listen, trucking is an adventure! If you're not adventuresome, get a job sitting in a cubicle all day.

and wow, all this company OTR bad news stuff scares the crap out of me if i ever go OTR. i guess the comforts of local driving has left me unprepared if i ever do get out there.

If more people had your attitude maybe trucking wouldn't be such an ########## mess. I have watched drivers show up on time for appointments and made to sit and wait for days sometimes to get unloaded and get what? Most places aren't to hot on detention and if your an owner op running for yourself good luck getting a darn thing out of them.
