I Speak The Truth ain't speaking the truth, and doesn't know his ### from a hole in the ground. I do not dispute that his Panther experience was a poor one. But when he says those who speak well of Panther are company shills he is flat out ignorant. Even though I ended up having an unsatisfying end at Panther, it doesn't change the fact that they were a good and fair company for more than a year and a half, and I made a lot of money with them. Yes they can be a pain in the rump to deal with at times, what truck company isn't?

For those reading this forum trying to gather info remember this important tidbit. There are a lot of lazy, uneducated, and unmotivated truckers out there. But there are also some of the most caring, hard-working, salt-of-the-earth type truckers out there who bust their behind to make a better life for themselves. If you are the latter you will most likely be successful at whatever company is lucky enough to get you. The former group of truckers are nothing more than crybabies in my opinion, who jump from company to company demanding respect prior to earning it. They couldn't run a business to save their life, and if you are giving Panther a hard look then you will be a business owner soon.

Good luck and take the beaching, whining, crybaby posters with a grain of salt.

The old saying goes, "there's no crying in trucking." Baloney! I've never seen a profession where there is more whiny losers. Just turn on your CB radio for 15 minutes or more and you'll surely hear them. It appears they have a genetic inability to stay silent.

panther is a better operation if you run a team but good luck on trying to find someone to team with they say and do to diffrent things. They also tell you if you break down they will try and help out do not believe that in matter of fact thats a myth.If you happen to break down you need to call and ask 1 guy and if your lucky they might help you out. Now if you have the misfurtune and have a monday or friday vehicle good luck. Or hope you have deep pockets. off the subject for a while why do people leave there jobs to find a better one or the pay wasn't that great I had left a job that I was rearly paid. So I went to panther on my last 600.00 needles to say that went quick dot inspection truck wash etc. I had to pick up my trailor in Md at a trailor shop at that go to a truck stop and get a tire. Pick up on Md get to Ny only 250 miles deliever on a friday and to my conclusion its memorial day had to sit till tuesday no load offers. But after that they kept me running in Ny and Pa thats were they run all there new green horns toll city.Thats ok go home get my passport than I'm in canada ny or michigan doing trailor swaps for these people that don't have one no more than 150 to 200 miles. making no money at all, seeing I'm new i'll deal with it. Truck breaks down safty is complaining and crying its your fault, next remember the 1 guy you need to deal with or as I would tight @##@.Sat for 13 days cause oh tight @%$ won't help out left me in Pa stranded, Now you deciede if you want to be treated that way I'm fed up with there bs

panther is diffrent than anything i've ever done ....you gotta look out for yourself and the contract rates are just a guide.....had a very good week took two loads into florida one at almost 3 dollars a mile and one around 2.25 then backhauled myself to baltimore 85 % of 1.75 mile ....but if i wouldnt have negotiated bonuses and difrent deadhead rates i might be crying too....if the load sucks ask for more money if they dont want to pay it then sit and wait for something better each of those loads i turned down at least once

every load is a negotiation if cant or wont negotiate you will be unhappy at some point. I have had realy good loads negotiating better deadhead emty moves ect.. take a junk load and make it one worth running and even make it a pleasure to run. We love panther and have never been happier with any other carrier.

I negotiated. If you have to negotiate in the first place what are you telling these people interested in joining panther? Why is there a need to negotiate every load and move why not get a fair rate right off the bat? What backhaul did you take out of fl? They don't let you take produce unless they changed that policy. I liked other carriers better and being on my own the best so to the dean team something must be wrong with you guys to only like panther and find every other carrier bad or you're paid pr. I am on my own now, but pantherii was the only carrier that could not get me home on Christmas. They could not get me a load from ma for a week and stuck running loads back and forth across Canada. Make sure you don't answer they're phone calls in Canada I was stuck with a $3000 phone bill. The simple truth with panther is they don't have the consistent miles or rates and have a handful of favorites that they cater to. How they are chosen is a mystery.

outa fl....i found a load in mobile going to va was just recycled plastic or something like that .....a little heavy for my taste but i;m was not really in a position to be picky in fl ya know i normally i;m pretty ballsy when negotiating rates with brokers but i was definetly not feeling on solid ground when i pushed that rate up a little

maybe just dumn luck but i have done pretty good off of get loaded and i am still learning i know a few lanes and brokers i use especially to get of my house in ks ..... lately we seem to be very short trucks the deadheads are longer and the desperation to cover loads is obvious everywhere minus fl i usually end up being the only truck within 300 miles dont know if it is just the end of month or just dumb luck on my part

Bigdad7, you are clearly a business owner. And you are what I would call a professional freight relocator. There is a crybaby who posts here quite often. He is a trucker. There is a big difference. You negotiate because you can. And if you don't like the rate you pass on the load. That is an example of good business practices. You also would never get stuck with a huge cell phone bill out of Canada because you are smart and would sign up for your cell phone company's Canada plan. Or you would just turn off your cell phone in Canada and communicate with Panther solely by qc when up there. You would have identified immediately that Rogers Wireless has the Canadian cell phone monopoly and screws Americans using their service up there. You would have also known not to use your laptop up there. But that is because you are a business owner that takes personal repsonsibility seriously and does not blame others on an open forum. Congrats, you appear to have all the tools necessary to make it as a business owner. Best of luck to you and yours...

been toying with the idea of getting my passport updated but am so afraid ill hit a resteraunt up there and they will be like we are outa beef but fransisco is out back collecting snails for the dinner special....actually the lack of freight getting back just dosent seem to b worth the effort at this time.....three days three loads so far almost 1500 miles in only and hit my goal on rates so if i can book the load i;m looking at tommorrow morning going home don;t think i will care too much how bad the rate is ....of course dont tell the broker that is still an 1100 mile trip home and it is autoparts so i should be able to get something descent outa the broker so i hope :biggrin_255:

and to i speak the half truths .....everything you do is a negotiation ....maybe you dont negotiate the rates but your schedule your hours etc....every job i;ve ever had in my life i have allways negotiated terms and if you are the best at what you do or at least in the top ten percent most employers customers will allmost allways pay a premium for your services.....one way or another

To both bigdad7 and especially chasedoggy-mark I don't need business lessons from either of you. I probably have a better education than both of you put together considering I have a bs degree in psychology and electrical engineering. I have my own authority and a produce wholesale and retail outlet. We also export US made electronics to Asia. My parents have a manufacturing company in Asia, while you're there in Seville staring at your computer screen monitoring forums about panther lol. You are amusing chasedoggy, buying a truck and leasing on to a loser company is not being a business owner lol. Sounds like a recruitment spiel to me. Lol Gotcha! Lol
