I was given a level 1 inspection by NCDOT.
He wrote up a worn out steer tire on the trailer for having a worn outer edge although it had minimum tread. No ticket but listed on roadside inspection report as a defect.Tires show up as 8 points ( 1-10 scale with 10 the worst) on the new system.
The mechanics changed the tire and put it back in the "good tire rack" to be used again.
They have a habit of putting uneven worn out steer tires on the hazmat trailer for tires.
Now I asked the shop manager about another steer tire on a trailer with the same scalloped worn edge and they said it was OK to run it.
Seems like I'm already caught in the middle.
May be time to seek employment elsewhere.scottied67 Thanks this. -
Not True. I get pulled over by motor carrier officer. He says, random. I started to believe this "speeding" stuff. So I got my actual PSP report. Not True. Hey, unless you really are speeding!!!
-
Very simple. Take Severity Weight (Look at landline magazine for these) X3, that is your first year score, times 2 the older it gets, etc,. And yes, no monetary tickets issued, but it goes against your record, (which they aren't worried about) yet its an employment tool for motor carriers. I agree with dieseldan. We drive a T700, Kenworth, (Newest thing on the Market), Basically, do not wreck our history for your equipment. As I can figure, DOT is saying the buck stops at your door. It doesn't matter who told you to run with faults, you do, your ###!!!
-
I am sorry, but I can't believe you are in training being "buffaloed" into this way of thinking. It is called "RANDOM". Trust me, I get RANDOM roadsides, all the time. Then I pay $10 get my report, guess what, it's a RANDOM.
-
By the way, 3 things on CSA 2010--called Paperwork, Vehicle Mainteance, Cargo Securement. I guess, shouldn,t tell you about 40 Hours driving per 5 days/48 hours Off Duty--Proposed!!
-
So that's the proposed hours of service. Talk about unrealistic. Wait until the idiots in the general public that are behind that crap start seeing the prices of everything they buy go sky-high doe to increased freight rates.
-
Well, here in lies the problem. I never talk on the CB. But now is the time for every truck driver to state their reasons to FMSCA. (I used to do this for a living!) You have a formidable opponent, who is part of the FMSCA board, its basically Get Rid Of Big Trucks Coalition. This group claims they have lost people in their familes due to horrible wrecks. FMSCA comes back and says most accidents happen in the first 8 hours of driving. Now is the time!!! Really, do I care, I run team!!!
-
Well, that is what's curious about all of this. Number one Safety/Lives versus Revenue----You know whats going to win. I, Myself, sacrificed many X mas, we had it on a different day, so dad could be home. Makes me irritated, but, thank god, I know how federal register works.
-
Heres the problem Lilbit, now is the time to state your stance, Not Here. But on the Federal Website.
