I called Michigan Works and they said they're out of funds so they are not providing money for CDL.
My plan was to go with Werner after getting financial aid for a CDL school, but guess not.
What should I do? Should I go with CR England for a year and then look for a better company?
I have no money for trucking school

If you want to drive and you don't have money for school then sign on with a company that will finance you. Just be sure you understand if you quit or get fired before the loan is repaid you will still owe.

Hi! Does the whole state of Michigan have no funding for CDL or just your county?
I live in OHio and my county had no funding for CDL but I was allowed to go to another county to get funding for CDL school. There was about four different counties that still had funding left for CDL course, had to travel about over 1.5 hrs to get the funding...lupe Thanks this. -
whatever you do............DO NOT sign on with any company paid training.......
some reasons are, you will sign a contract to work for them for a period of time, any where's from 1 to 3 years........
they will have MORE control over you and your earnings.
if you quit, or even get fired, you WILL pay back all the money they spent on you and your training.
right now, my state too is experiencing a fund shortage from the guberment releasing funds for training........so it ain't just your state.......
hang in there, the money will come...........
one other source, is if you can get a co-signer fro your student loan. -
So what is the difference if you have to pay the bank or the trucking company? The difference is at least you will be out there making money for yourself. Instead of at home waiting for uncle sam to take care of you!
Bigarmin88 Thanks this. -
boy, i guess you really don't get it do you.....shows your lack of knowledge of the business, which is why you speak the way you do.........
the difference.........BIG difference is that a bank loan, he would be free to quit at any time with out repercussions of the contract with a trucking company, which in turn, can give him a bad DAC report, he will never be able to get out of......
at least with a bank, he can pay them back, and if he fails to, he gets a bad credit rating........but nothing bad from the trucking company he would owe.........
its best to wait, because you also seem to think that right now.........that there are jibs for you guys.........which sorry to say...........there just isn't..... -
Waiting for Uncle Sam to help is the American way. It's just is not right you should have to pay your own way.
-
this is correct oh great wise man...........
cozzin' if he don't...........the immigrants that come here will take it 100% of the time......... -
And bad credit rating is a good thing :S..
Could ask family members for he cash, maybe they can help.
Having a bad credit rating, you would be better off with a bad DAC, or dont companies(in USA) see bad credit rating as a minus? (Over here we cant be O/O with bad credit)
