a person can get out of a bad credit rating faster than he can get out of a bad DAC rating, as long as it isn't bankruptcy. but even then, if a person has a bankruptcy, they have no bills to pay, many have gotten home mortgages because they DID file bankruptcy, because now the bank knows they got no other bills and the mortgage will be paid........

this particular happened with some people i know.........

and no, a bad DAC stays on your record for up to 10 years.........try getting a job in trucking........

I would say don't go to Prime for the training if you do go with a company sponsored program. Only way I lucked out and didn't have to pay squat was leaving before I ever even got on a truck. They are rude to all their "students" they want to make it more military style than a learning thing. It may be different now, this was back in 2005 when I had went. But I would definitely tell Prime what they could do for me. That is pucker up and kiss my rosy red....well you get the idea.

Why not look into local beer, soda, food, distributors,...

If you have good customer service skills many of these type of companies will train you,...

Sure you would have to str as a drivers helper, And the work can be very hard,...

But it all works out when you have the cdl in hand, And a local job!!

Apparently rerun isn't speaking from personal experience. Of course, if you take a loan from anyone it will be expected to be repaid. That's a no-bbrainer, whether it's a carrier or a bank. You used their money, they want it back.

I went through Swift's program, was hired by them and then left the company before the loan was completely paid. Well, guess what? They wanted the balance of the loan! Imagine that! So, I paid them.

There is none of that conscripted servitude at a lower rate of pay or any of that other BS you hear from people who got trained with a farm truck and a 2x4. You are free to go at any time. Check it out for yourself before taking the word of someone here. Even me.

Companies to check: Schneider, Swift, Weener, Stephens, Central, CR England...all those "bottom feeder" companies who are willing to risk their equipment and safety rating to help someone get started. And expect a return on their investment either through a working relationship or through direct repayment. At a very reduced interest rate.

All of Michigan is broke. There's no money left there any more with an unemployment rate over 16%. If it takes going to a company to ask for help, do it. You aren't going to make any money waiting for a bank to approve a loan you have no means to repay at this time and the federal guv'mint is almost worthless. Those work programs almost always go through the states.

    Good luck to you.

Rerun the supertrucker, if you pay the balance of the loan why would you get a bad rating on your DAC? Thank you for the attack and the accusation of my lack of trucking knowledge. Oh by the way, welcome to the forum as you are new here. The rest of us are all friends and communicate civilized to one another. Thanks again!

Join the military, get an education and go do something else for a living. Trucking stinks.

Look in your local telephone book, or on the internet. I'm sure that you have noticed the NAMES of the companies that deliver to your local stores. If you haven't already, take a minute and look at the names of the companies on their trucks. That tells you WHO to look up in the phone book.

Then when you find them, take your prepared resume to them in person. (Forget the phone call, go in person.) Ask to speak with whoever does hiring there.

Chances are they will take your resume, and tell you they will call you later. But you just might get lucky enough to actually be able to talk with someone who is in a position to make a hiring decision. You will likely have to fill out a long job application, so take the information with you that you will need.

Keep plugging away. You are learning things everyday here on the forum. Eventually, you will find what you want and need!
