Hey guys i've been very busy the past couple of days, I'm also a graduate student and it has been a challenge to attend class and keep the company running smoothly. But so far so good..

ton bundle thanks for your input, you definitely have a point, i mean I still find some good freight every now and then but the truth is ..that the 20 calls per load are quite bothersome. I've come to appreciate Robinson lately, they may not be the best out there with their rates but certainly have made things easier for me in the past. Now that I'm working with other brokers directly as you suggest and using truckstop it has been a hassle, but my drivers are making more money so Im happy. We're up to 7 trucks now :) which makes me sad because I don't have enough time with school and all to expand some more, but lets see what happens in the near future.

Also, because we went from 4 to 7 I've been considering to get a fuel card for my trucks, so they dont get charged 10 -25 bucks for a tcheck or comcheck. Any good ones you currently use or have used in the past?

Oh and btw I'm working on my OC so I don't have to use a factoring agency any more though at the time being we're using (D&S). A

Thank you all for your help and hope you're having a productive week!

I use FleetOne fuel card that I got through OOIDA. Wouldn't hurt to look into them!

they discontinued the $17 a month discount, now its $31.45 a month for OOIDA members, they explained to me that the "people upstairs" are responsible. Lets see............thats about a 92% INCREASE

    ..... mmmm free market? ok.........freedom of choice F O
and the only way this kind of shix will stop, if the company's that think truck drivers are stupid, feel a wave of compalints in their pocket......thats free market baby....for the people by the people , my people are not sheep

I've been paying the $31.45 for Members Edge. If you sign up for Truckers Edge, it's like three bucks more per month for the same loadboard. To me that's a discount. Not a big one, but like getting your 12th month free. Who wouldn't want that?

They are reposting loads from brokers that you can get from the broker yourself, and put the full amount in your pocket. No need to pay them for something you can do yourself.

you can find the same load on get loaded that's on dat, and also internet truckstop. The freight will all have the same price, on each load board. I have dat and ITS because it is furnished for me, by a small fleet company who have contracted me to dispatch thier trucks. I also have shippers that these trucks haul for. If you wanna take the stress out of the deal, give me a call, I think I can help you out. 859-247-0186

Do y'all have issues with the ages of your trailers?

What I am wondering is how often the age of your trailer comes into play and/or would you have issues meeting shippers requirements if you pulled something older?

Trying to think some things through, and wondering if I could get away with a lower priced trailer that's 10+ years old.

I've never had anyone ask the year of my trailer that I can remember. It's 2001 if that makes any diff...

There are some shippers that demand trailers that are less than 10 years old, but they are the exception and not the rule, in my experience. The shippers are usually paper companies shipping roll stock. The loads usually pay like crap, so you're not missing out on anything.
