HERE WE GO STARTING with PAM TRAINER

i am attending the ft worth school next week how was I got hired on for choctaw express its a dedicated . any advuce?

 

yes i work on the choctaw divison you be home on the weekend.

 

could anybody give me run down as to what pam has far as like pre-pass toll cards and insurance is like blue shield blue cross also how are the miles are they consistent for at least good pay check i seen a cex trailer going down 23 i got a class set up in febuary any help be appreciate

 

I worked for allen freight/pam, my miles were pretty good, i was doing about 2700 miles a week, but this was back in 2008, i left pam for barr nunn, what a mistake that was. they use to have automotive loads that would run out of Michigan down to Laredo,TX and back to Michigan or to and from Rocky Mount,NC. after you get your foot in the door and show them what you can do, check on some of the automotive dedicated accounts coming out of Michigan. these loads cannot be late. they have pre pass for tolls, except for Florida and Ohio. i never had a problem getting home, but remember i was with Allen Freight. can't tell you about the insurance, i was covered by tricare, my wife is in the military. have a freind that still drives for them, he said the miles were good one week and down the next. the only downside to pam is the auto trucks, i would suggest that you learn how to drive a stick first, then go to auto. and they will assign you a truck that a driver has abandoned at a truckstop and tell you to go to work, so if you can, try to get a truck from one of there terminals. good luck and drive safe.

 

Hey BRICKMAN, are you still happy with United Van Lines? I'm a newbie with the opportunity to go over the road (I have an offer from PAM) or go with a moving company that specializes in moving military families. The job would be local starting out with a lot of physical labor as well as driving and the opportunity to do long hauls later on. I would appreciate any advice you have to give.

 

I got back to Georgia (from T-town) last Sunday, Chip, so now it's twice you've heard that it took more than a week to pick somebody up here. I'm hopeful that Jennifer will have some good news for me when I check in tomorrow.
Of course, a few weeks from now I'll probably be wishing I was home chilling out at the computer desk, so I think I'll wait at least a day or two more before I start crying. Not making much money while I'm sittiing, though.

 

Chip, do you get paid while you're in school, and if so, at what rate? Also, what happens if you fail the test? Do you get another shot at it, or does PAM write you off?

One more thing. Could you comment on the horror stories out there about PAM? I know there's no such thing as a perfect company, and even if there was one, it would cease to be perfect when I got there. But even so, some of the things I've read have been pretty serious. Any information you could give would be helpful.

I wouldn't want something to happen where I lose my job without warning and then be saddled with an expensive bill for the driving school.

 

Can anyone give great argument to go with PAM?

 

Not trying to step on any toes but I've asked these same questions before and I'd like to share some answers.

No, you do not get paid to go to school. You are there for the 3 weeks on your dime. Food, transportation to C1 & back home and the administrative fees are on you. PAM is only paying school tuition up front. Wages are $300/week when you go with your trainer.

Unhappy people are going to gripe about their jobs. No company is perfect but you have to start somewhere. I tend to believe none of what I hear and half of what I see. Just remember, there are thousands of satisfied drivers out there who never log on to trucking message boards so you never hear that side of the story.
