    ***My own opinion***
I would be SO ticked-off, if, on top of paying for my internet, I would THEN, have to pay EXTRA, to be able to do anything but basic searches...
Also, I'm sure this probably belongs in the electronics section of the forum, but I put it here, because it is news that could affect all of us, if it comes to pass....

Verizon and Google don't own any of the main lines so I'm not sure they could make anything work outside Verizon's tiny little corner of the net. Besides, no matter what they try to do, the traffic with probably just keep right on flowing disguised as something else. Look at the great success they've had at stopping bittorrent.

actually this is already in place. The first class users dont have their connection throttled. The third class does. Ever notice that on a really big transfer of a file say 1 gig plus, the first 20% came in to your machine very quickly? There after it may take upto 2-3 days to get the rest? That is throttling.

If your paying more money for a higher bandwidth there is less throttling.

Yeah, so they say. Individual isps have been trying it for years. They quietly implement throttling of some kind, people find out about it, there's a backlash, they loose customers, and they take the throttling off again. They've been trying to pass some form of bs law to make it legal for years too. As long as there is an alternative that doesn't throttle, people will just switch their service over. That's what they're trying to eliminate.

Mine isn't throttled at all. I can suck down 40gb or more at full speed if I want to. And the new FIOS lines are way faster than this old cable line.

And if we, the people, the lowly peons who actually will get burned by this, have any confidence that OBAMA will NOT sign this bill, we are sadly mistaken. :biggrin_2557:

If this does NOT get signed by him, please feel free to make me eat these words..:yes2557::yes2557:
