had no intention of becoming a lease driver for Transam. When I got off the road with my trainer and tested out, I was going to be a company driver at least until I learned how to make money in this industry. I was 20th on the list for a truck

I had a friend who went to work for Transam and they tried the same thing with him. He just said cool, he would wait as long as it took. Then he told them by the way "while I'm waiting on a truck I'm going home too file my unemployment." Before he could get out the door they had a truck for him.

well folks, for what it"s worth, after signing my life away and driving my ### off for Transam from Jan. thru May this year, after getting the home time I put in 6 weeks in advance 2 days late AND 200 MILES DEADHEAD, then DEADHEADED 210 miles to the next p/u... and obviously was 'posed to be pleased I got a restart 2 days later and one more 3 days after that. All the while I'm making 860.00 a wk in payments(had to be for I put zilch in the bank) and living on their generous 50.00advances. Well, I put in my notice to void the lease, turned in the truck in Olathe, caught a flight to Ga. and that's that. Today I received a nice letter from them stating I owe them 946.79 for a steer tire(they set the steers to pull to the right) and for maintenance that was never needed. Yep.... see what all the extra charges add up to. Don't do like I and so many others have done.DO NOT LEASE .Like Scar told Cymba "RUN AND NEVER LOOK BACK" cuz this is not a normal sex act, if you get my drift. Good Luck

I have to ask..How do they "Set the steers to pull to the right?"

They don't SET anything! They were out of alignment! It's an easy fix and if I remember right they have an alignment rack at Olathe but it's been a while (2003) since I was stupid enough to drive for them as a company driver.
An alignment you should have asked for the first day you were out on that truck if when you turned loose of the steering wheel it DOVE to the left or right. NOTE: most roads are "crowned" in the center of the lanes so water will flow off to the sides so a truck will lightly drift to the right BUT if it divers right or left or dives or "Pulls" when brakes are hit then it needs an alignment! Even the wear on the tires shows out of alignment! To those of you who fleece a truck and you point out something on the steers and you get some BS answer then as it's YOUR truck bobtail to the nearest Goodyear, Michelin or whoever the tire manufacturer is and ask then. THEN tell that BFI that you need an alignment and pull the cash out of your escrow or out of that "operating capital account" that I just KNOW you had before you fell into this "Owner Operator fleece scam" you are stuck in! Tires are a major cost and an alignment is part of the cost of trucking. Some moron trainee that had no clue hit a curb or never tried to miss pot holes in the road and screwed up the alignment!

Another thing. A (1) steer tire does NOT cost $946.79! Not even the pair (2) costs that freaking much and this BFI gets a discount as the buy tires by the truck load! I know I've watched the trailer get dropped at the gate!

TransAM is nothing but low class! This I'd expect from them!

Hey thumper and panhandle flash would love to talk to you guys. I've been here a few weeks and my fuel mileage sucks. I set cruise at 64. Does it help to have truck governed at 65. I'm only averaging 5.9 to 6 at 64 6.2 at 62 is that pretty normal here. What kind of mileage are you getting. I would appreciate any pointers

lmao Ill agree with part of this as a L/O its your job to check your truck and if anything is not right get it right as a set of steers is not cheap and if they are out of alignment you will loose money really quick.
