I just wanted to get your opinion. I am an experienced driver, I have 2 years experience I drove for Central Refrigerated but have been out of the seat since March. I have a couple minor preventables on my DAC (I curbed a tire and had a blowout while training, then last year I backed a trailer into a fence) but I have been wanting to get back to work, but nobody else has expressed interest in my other than Werner.

So should I keep looking or hop on in. I am in Ohio and really looking for regional work or dedicated

If your not working and someone has a opening for you, should snag that. Some minors on your DAC will fade with time as long as you don't keep piling them up and no majors.

I wanted to know what is the status of werners flatbed ops. when I drove for TMC, long ago, Werner Flatbed was like a separate company and the drivers seemed to be doing well. I always had to wait with them at Griffin pipe in Council Bluffs. I've retired from the Army:biggrin_25525: and Qwest Communications:biggrin_25513: and am getting back to driving as I am widowed and my Boys are grown, the Werner vets program is the only one certified by the VA and that $1100 a month tax free would make the first 18 months a little more bearable/surviveable.

Stay safe and don't hate me because I can spell at the 8th grade level!:biggrin_2559:

Ok, I'm a newb so please be gentle. Why would anyone like or want to drive flatbed? Is it b/c there is very little backing involved? Or is it just more money? Seems like a pain with all the tarping and strapping.

Werner got their training program certified by the VA as a career program. Everything is the same as for a regular employee/cdl grad.Once your hired all your miles and hours are recorded(duh they have to have logs). You get registerd with the Dept of Labor and if you are a vet with Montgomery GI bill or post 9/11 GI Bill then you will recieve approx. $1100 a month from the VA, this is Tax-free and retroactive to your start date. This is for one year. You also get a US Dept of Labor apprenticeship certification, If you want this cert will document you as a journeyman with the Teamsters and other Unions and the Federal Government. I was in a Union for 14 years, I'll stay clear of those bloodsucking leeches, thank you.
