EL PASO -- The theft of a tractor-trailer loaded with electronic equipment is the Crime Stoppers crime of the week.
The trailer was stolen on July 25 from Howl Transportation, at 300 N. Zaragoza. The trailer was found empty on the Far East Side. Review of surveillance tape showed a former employee and an unidentified man hook the trailer up to their rig and leave the business, authorities

said.
The total value of the merchandise stolen is $233,664.
The former employee has been identified as 44-year-old Javier Betancourt. Betancourt is described as 5 foot, 10 inches tall and weighing 210 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes.
The other man has yet to be identified.
Anyone with information concerning this crime is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 566-8477. Callers will remain anonymous and tips that lead to an arrest may earn up to a $1,000 cash reward. John Hall

The sad part is that when he is caught he will have to pay a fine and will face up to 1 year in jail.
There is allot of incentive to steal trailers and loads, but not allot of a penalty for getting caught. This is why many gangs are getting into the business. They can make allot of money and as long as they do not use weapons or hurt anyone while stealing the load they do not face any hard time. -
and like this situation shows, usually these high dollar heists have someone either very familiar or still employed by the company.
