Hooked a different truck up to my trailer( trailer that was working fine for weeks and right up until swapping trucks )
All hooked up and the brakes are locked up on the trailer ,,,, air is built up in both tanks but as soon as i turn off the truck and trailer brakes the air starts dropping like mad . Also *I have a third axle that will not rise up .
I figure the lines are on wrong so i swap out red for blue ,, same #### thing .
The trailer has a valve to control the air to it ,, either up or down made no difference .
I was clueless , so was another driver helping me . Any idea what the problem is ? I have switched trailers at this job alot and never ran into this mess .
Bad air lines from the truck ?? I could hear alittle air letting go from the rear of the trailer so i know it was getting some air .

Maxi, brake valve? Airline? Just follow the sound of the air leak.
rustycage Thanks this. -
Check your brake chambers. Might have a leak on them.
-
The little leak was nothing that would drop the air so quick . Plus this trailer was unhooked for five whole minutes before the problem started . Makes no sense .
I had worse leaks that the air would keep up too no problem . -
brake chambers on the truck ?
-
Does your pressure drop when the red button is out? If so then you got a leak on the tractor.
-
nope, no air drop when both brakes are pulled . But push them in and you can see the needle dropping .
I remember it held air with the yellow in but red in/off was causing it to drop like crazy .
I was thinking gasoline and a match might fix it ? -
Sorry, I was referring to the chambers on the trailer.

Have you checked your slack adjusters? I don't know who you work for but if an O/O had that trailer they have a tendency to use the companies brakes. If it was loaded when they adjusted them then when it is empty they will lock.

Ok well if you push the trailer in and you start leaking air your problem is in the trailer. I've had maxi's cause this alot and you could just bairly her the leak.
