This is a teaser. I just got it back from the OTR portion and I will be writing a full 60k mile review in the next day or so. You will like it.

I've used my 465T for 4 months local.

I can honestly say you have to be smarter than the GPS. It's just another tool in the box, no substitute for an Atlas. At least have an idea of where you are going and what route. Do not blindly depend on it.

That said, it has rarely if ever failed completely to reach a destination.
It doesn't always know the correct speed limit and displays the car limit even in truck mode.
It has serious trouble with truck routes in town.
It does not always warn you an exit before the scales.
It has many times helped me to not miss a turn.
It can be at times ridiculously verbose.

    Recalculating....

    David please see above. lol:biggrin_25523:

He was probably a moron that never double checks the route the gps gave him against a good old map. also how does one crush a flaring and not the topper due to low overpass?

That is a feature of the 465 I never tested. There aren't any low bridges in Bridgetown that I needed to run under...

I have been using the 465T for a year now. The trucker features are ok, but many of the warnings are wrong or absent when needed. Garmin has been good about updates to fix the freezing issues of last year, but a lot of the trucking specific info needs correcting.

    JustSonny Thanks this.

I am still writing a full review but the only major peeve I have after using it for 6 months local while my friend used one for six months OTR is the thing is too cautious. It often lists bridges under the real height and puts weight limits on roads that have no posted limit.

I love mine it works as advertised for me. My favorite and most used function is the lane assist. That is the single greatest thing to my simple mind. As is said a million times you still need common sense. Any driver who drives under a low bridge for any reason should have their CDL permanently revoked and they have no common sense.

It gets me to the place I am looking for but has trouble once you get to the destination of realizing I am indeed there and wants me to use employee entrances etc. It is at that time I shut er down cause the barking drives me nuts lol.

GPS is the greatest technological advancement since the cell phone and I have never seen a map that told me where low bridges were either. Coupled with a good map and proper trip planning I can't imagine not having mine with me. I don't bury my nose in it however and have a good amount of Trucking sense. I know when to trust it and when not to.

Our company uses Co Pilot in our satellite units so many times I have both running and the Garmin is so vastly superior to it I cant imagine co pilot stays in business. I usually use it as just an overall map that shows my route in a map of the US and I keep the garmin running zoomed out quite a ways too. The Garmin instantly zooms in when needed and is a dead perfect speedometer and the ETA's have been near perfect. I wish it had a compass on the main screen sometimes but meh you cant have it all. The traffic alerts and sharp curve notices are also invaluable.
