I have been looking around at trucks and trailers quite a bit lately, wont be buying one again until next year. If I was getting back into one today this is probably what id buy.

Its a sharp lookin studio sleeper, 435 CAT 3406E and a 15 speed. Has 3.90 rears.

cant belive all they are asking for this thing is $16,500, I bet if a guy had 15,000 cash they would not turn you away.

Thinking about it 2 years ago this would have probably been a 50,000.00 truck. That is nuts.

If I got this one id paint the front fenders all white again, and id put a set of full fenders on it in white. then do the frame red, get a Doonan like this one to drag behind it.

Id get some red pin striping on the tractor and fenders, add a set of quarter fenders to the trailer painted white with the same treatment, also a set of twin 36x24x24" boxes between the spread would be in order, the 18x18x60's are just too small for me.

A set of ramps that could be stowed in the throat box on the trailer would be must too.

I would also want a 30" drom with a set of boxes under it as well. And id probably take the cab extensions off the sleeper.

It is an 96, the mileage isnt listed, thus im sure it is a million +

When I buy a truck that is pretty much what im going to look for because im going to spend about a year rebuilding it, going to do an out of frame on the motor, build it up signifigantly, put a brand spankin new 18 speed in, and go through the rear ends, also new air lines, brakes ect...

The price is right for a 96. One that old hasn't been $50,000 for a lot of yrs.
Sharp looking truck in the pic for the year.

Can't tell from the pic is that sleeper the removable one or the integral?
That will make a difference in price.

To get the price up to $50,000 I'm sure you'd have to be an 02 or newer with less than 500,000 miles.

It is the removable sleeper. And now that I think about it, I am thinking back in 05/06 which has been just a little while.

I am actually kind of torn on which one I want because I do like the divider curtain in the modular sleeper better, but with the aero cab you can put captians chairs in it and it makes the inside of the truck feel bigger.

I do like the cab with the modular sleeper better, and the hood fits better in my oppinion.

If it has a CAT engine its not hard to drop $20,000 into a rebuild
    In 04 I think a 3406E cost us $18,000- $20,000 if I remember right.
Lots of new parts, reman head, new turbo, new camshaft etc.

I paid $5000 in 06 for a power divider rebuild that lasted only a few yrs and
went out again on the guy I sold that truck to.

    Rebuilds add up real fast.

Before you buy that removable sleeper truck go sit in it for more than 30 seconds.
The cab room is like a day cab. I'm only 5' 8'' and a day cab does not allow the seat to move far enough back for me!!!! My legs get so cramped....
I had a 2000 aero W900L that I rode with the seat all the way back and down on the open road. I'd air it up some for city driving when I needed to be able to see better.

I am really hesitant to buy an 01 or newer, because when I bought my 2000 it had one of the last 3406E's in it, was a great motor, never left me stranded, pulled hard, got the job done. The only thing I didnt like was it had a pac brake instead of a jake.

2 of the guys I was running with bought 01's with the C-15 in them, they had a ton of trouble and there were many times where my truck was sitting in the shop next to thiers where mine was getting an oil change, thiers were getting work done on the motor.

I have also thought a lot about buying a glider, but some one told me Kenworth wont sell you one any more so I dont know.

The previous mentioned 2000 had a C-15 in it.

I'd check with KW before giving up on your glider dream.
