Mine won't be in until this week. I've been playing on my daughters for the past 3 days solid. Prior to that, been playing with it (and others) off and on for the past month, to check them out.

I like what I see, for sure. The list of widgets are great :D And I do intend to grab quiet a few of those.

Over all, I've checked out several new phones. And I've been really impressed with the Droids.

My primary reason for getting one, was the touch screen. And the size of the numbers for dialing, on that screen. Fat numbers for fat fingers :D I also have a bad habit of slamming flip/slide and other phones shut, damaging the phone. I'm hoping this (touch screen) will end that issue.

My only issue, was the failure on my part to pay attention to the actual phone before ordering it. I should have gotten a different model.

I normally place a velcro strip on the backs of all my phones. Then attach them to my dash. It won't be happening with this phone (Motorola Flip) because the $##% keyboard is on the back. But I can live with that.

Android is a great tool for trucking....be lost without mine. You just got to get the right programs. Besides all the navigation stuff it comes with, I have Radar Now (free) for instant location based radar, Where (free) to find truck stops, etc, Document Scanner (paid) scans that reciept for reimbursement and turns into a pdf, FilesAnywhere (free) faxes the pdf to your company, Easy Tether Lite (free) puts the 3g from your phone onto your laptop and DroidTruckersLog (paid) great backup for your HOS.

The newest phones have HDMI outputs. Has anyone hooked one up to a flat screen? That could be a good movie option with an unlimited data plan.

Okay...the new toys are in. And I've had a few days to play with it. Something that is a lot different, than playing with someone else's toys LOL

My calender concerns were mute. Since no one had this function loaded on their home screen I was unable to see how I would handle this issue without modifying their phone.

Impressive would be my first statement. Although it still takes 2 clicks to get me where I want. I understand why, with the touch screen. Details later.

For those of you concerned about button size on the touch screen. I got the Motorola Backflip. It has BIG buttons on the display. No way you can have trouble with fat fingers :D

The keyboard, still leaves a lot to be desired. But you can only fit some much in the limited real estate.

I know some of you techies will say it's not a "true" droid. But it is powered by the Droid OS. Albeit an older version than is on the market currently.

I spent the first 24 hours downloading the widgets I desired. Now everything is handled from the home screen, with a single tap. And I have 4 screens left for other items, if I wish.

I went with the lowest data plan, since I won't be using it much on the road. The WiFi feature syncs well with my home network, saving usage on the data plan :D

I've disabled the majority of useless data hog BS loaded on the phone. But the widgets allow me to toggle back and forth when needed, without effort. Some things may need updating on the road ya know.

My biggest issue, the screen will go into sleep mode while on a call. Forcing me to hit the button to wake it, then end the call. A real pain in the ### when you leave voice mail, or get no response. I could extend this feature out, but it would reduce battery life. And battery life sucks it appears, about 12 hours at best.

The sleep function is "safety" related, for those of you who are wondering. By going to "sleep" it prevents you from hanging up accidentally, or some other dumb thing during a call if you don't use a headset..... I can live with that.

It doesn't "wake" when you receive a text. You have to physically hit the button. :( It does wake when a call comes in, allowing you to see who it is...thankfully.

As far as I can tell. There is little that can't be tweaked. So for those of you who have waited (as I have) for something that functions the way YOU want it to. Now would be a good time to spend the money.

I no longer have to dig through 3, 5, or 7 "menus" to find a feature/function I need every day. Everything I use is located on one screen...at the same time.

I know some would say they would have chosen a different model. All well and good. I chose this one because of its "physical" features, not it's looks. I'm not about looking cool, I lean toward ease of use.

No, it's not an I-phone. But it's pretty #### good IMHO.

This post is extremely intriguing to me because I see what you are getting at in terms of huge potential for using the onboard unlimited data plans to stream video onto your laptop or TV (using an HDMI interface of course.)

So I tried it last night (on a Droid X) and used the HDMI output to connect to a monitor. After much pi$$ing and moaning about trying to get video from the phone's browser to the monitor I found that it only displays pictures in your "gallery" at this time. It doesn't "feed" the phone's display, browser, etc to a TV or monitor.

Now, I have not "rooted" or "hacked" this Droid so there may be a way to expand the HDMI output feed if you looked into doing some creative manipulation. Also, the new Droid OS is due out soon and one of the many rumors about that relates to an expansion of the HDMI output stream as well.
