Well i voted Twice once for Delorme and once for other software. up until we had driver Tech installed into our trucks i used Delorme which wasnt always 100% accurate but good enough to get you into the neghaborhood, i upgraded to the 2006 verson which was the last year i used it but it still had a few problems i would have liked to have seen worked out it was still missing roads in Chicago Area, THE ADDRESS BOOK WAS INVALUABLE because once you finally made it to the shipper // Receiver you could Right click on your green dot and Save that customer via gps location then add the address as side bar information the only downside is that it could only store 200 locations..
Now we use Driver Tech that has the latest Version of Copilot installed, now it Sucks at finding places, via Address when it first got installed in our truck if you were on a load you had to manually input the address for shipper // receiver and it was Way off, i think its the Addresses they use to be to blame i was at a customer in dallas last week, and they were on a competely different street from what their address was, i could see them across the RR Trx but that doesnt help much,
any way the Reason i like the version of Copilot we use is that our company called each Customer and had them give us their GPS location then put all the information into the computers at work then each time we get a dispatch it automatically loads the info into the copilot even the Fuel Stops,
BUT Its not the End all Answer, even with the GPS it Still gets lost and even Copilot attempted to Route me on a Truck Restricted Road and Through a Resendital Neghaborhood in Pennslyvania because it was a shorter route i was for some reason only paying attention to the GPS and not the local Directions together with GPS and it turned me onto a Street where the bridge was our Fun Fun Fun for only have been at work for 3 hours on a monday morning,
we send messages directly to copilot informing them of whats going on with the software and they make changes to it but i believe Copilot in a couple of years will be one of the best trucking GPS Programs avilable because they will be continually updating and fixing errors our Company Drivers run into allowing them to Greatly improve the program -
Yes, I understand what u mean by not all there....Delorme does give u the "option" though, to draw another road in thats not there....I think that is cool.

what i found that works best when i used my laptop for GPS was Delorme and i double checked the Address with MS Streets and Trips but i still liked delorme better i think it looked better and had better options, but you might find that handy to use Delorme for GPS and Cross Refrence with MS Streets and trips, and if both of them showed the same location for the address i wasnt as worried, but if MS was Different i would go with MS over Delorme and call the customer for local directions, if your still doubtful

As nearly as I could tell, both DeLorme and MS Streets and Trips use the same database, which is customizable by the user, new developments aren't very current, not just Chicago area, either. I get directions by cell phone if it's new and by dispatch if it's an established customer. I've been all over Chicago-land and can find most places with reference to others, you need to watch for low clearance, if in doubt, turn around, if you need a route call the sanitation department they will help you from what I've been told, I don't trust the maps entirely. Dispatch got a driver three topped trailers in a week before he quit or was let go.
I used Streets and Trips but had both. -
Delorme Street Atlas USA 2008 Plus OR Microsoft Streets and Trips 2008 with GPS those are two good programs really.

where is the "none of the above" choice?
Since the evolution of maps.google.com I quit using Delorme which used to be what I thought was the best. Google maps shows mileage, routes, and has the added plus of satelite views of most metropolitan address overlaid on the steet grid to show you visually the distance between turns, blocks, buildings, etc. The only drawback is you have to plan ahead when you have internet connectivity, you can't (unless you have broadband) simply pull over 10 miles away from your destination and call up the website. Between google and my companies qualcom computer generated directions, I won't ever need to spend money on software mapping. (another caution is that you have to be aware of things like route restrictions, bridge weight restrictions, and bridge height restrictions) - if you don't get that info off your Rand McNally atlas or company instructions, the computer routing and google maps DO NOT warn of big rig restrictions along the route. -
Funny thing that you mention the sat images. The new delorme 08 has this feature built in. I do not know how much I will use ut since I just got the program. Also dont know the picture coverage as well.
