BIL drove a route for Pepsi for several years, before his distributor closed. It was an okay job; money wasn't bad, but wasn't great. Benefits were very good; the health insurance was excellent.
Don't think you're not going to work weekends and evenings, though. If someone on his route was having a sale, BIL was expected to go in, any time or day, and deliver and put out more product if it was needed.
BIL really wasn't too disappointed when his distributor closed and he had to look for different work. He doesn't think his back would've held up for the long run. -
take the pepsi job
recruiters have a tendency to lie (scratch that every word out of their mouth youve got to think the opposite is true) -
I'v known 2 people to work for pepsi. They told me they where paided by the drinks they sold. They said the pay wasn't good. I would go to work for Swift.

The upside Pepsie, regular work, 5 to 6 day work week, regular raises, revues, etc.
The downside to Pepsi, most are union positions, you'll work #### hard for your money (BTDT for 7Up), you will be expected to work weekends, expect to work Memorial Day Weekend, Labor Day Weekend, 4th of July Weekend, Thanksgiving Weekend, Christmas Weekend (not Christmas Day), New Years Weekend. -
Working the Dollar General or whatever it was that Swift offered him, he would be doing the same thing for less money.walleye Thanks this.

How exactly is that a down side????
I see it as a very big positive!!! -
I get a kick out of the advice.......be aware that local/regional driving will not be "counted/considered" by OTR companies. I can tell you from my own interviews and talking to companys here, they do very much count it. I know verifiable log miles is what your getting at, but a good company that wants you to take their truck OTR does consider your local/regional driving experience.

I been with Swift for over seven years now...and I'm happy with them...but go with Pepsi.

oops, I forgot......Go pepsi.....Swift or OTR will be there for you when it fits you and your life. This earn your stripes thru OTR to get a local job.....just truthfully has not been what I see the industry dictating.
Good Luck with whatever you choose.
