I am looking at company sponsored training programs near Knoxville.
I got a list of programs that included community colleges and training schools.
I hope to sign up soon after I use this board to find the best company to work for.
And I hope to join you all on the road!

    steve in knoxville

Any advice on which companies are good to start with and schools?

hey steve... i went to smokey mtn trucking institute in sevierville. its off 411 north of downtown. i cant remember the number for them, ill look it up and get back to you. good school, 185hrs, covers the basics and will help get you a prehire before you graduate. tuition is $4000, or $3000 is you or you dad ever served in the armed forces. also they accept the government grant, cant remember what its callled maybe someone else will know. all in all its a good school, but its just to help get your license, they dont cover as much material as some of the community colleges do....

    tennmoto Thanks this.

Thanks for the reply. I was wondering if I had done something wrong with no replies for a few days.
Yea I live close to Sevierville in Seymour, so I will chech them out along with a bunch of others. I am serious about being a useful professional driver so its important to find a good school. Some websites say private schools are better and some accredited Tn schools like TN tech have been around awhile.
I am contacting the trucking co. themselves now to find out who they like.
Thanks again, I will post my results if anyone is interested.:biggrin_25514:
