They speak of the state of Georgia as if it is a person. Georgia must apologize for doing such and such. It also begs the question of how do you apologize for something YOU didnt do? And how do you apologize to someone who was not affected by something that you didnt do?
    Liberals boggle the mind.

Exactly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you didn't do the crime you shouldn't be accused of it, or punished for it.

Nobody has ever accused libs of having an ounce of common sense.

Here here, I agree, Georgia should apologize. Right after all previous slave owners apologize. Okay Egypt apologize to the Jews. Japan apologize to the Chinese. Ghenghis Khan apologize to everyone you didn't kill but enslaved. Uhm, Rome you have to apologize to the entire planet.

Dare I point out that while we are being asked to apologize for a practice we abandoned 150 years ago that slavery is alive and well in the Sudan/west African areas. How dare this man have the audacity to let such nonsense fall from his lips when he lacks the balls to stop current slavery? As an American I'm pissed, as a Georgian I'm even more pissed, as a productive citizen I say shut up and get off my back! Pull your own load and quit whinning about something that's only a vague rumor of your collective conscience!:diabloanifire: Go tell it to this guy!

georgia doesnt need to apologize for anything. The people responsible for slavery are in the ground. people of today in united states don't have slaves. I am glad we don't because it is wrong. All people should be free. All people should be treated as equals. I guess because I am part german I should go public and apolojize for what hitler didto the jews. It is time for everyone to put the past behind us and work on the future of not only this country but also work for a better world. No race is better then the other. Lets accept each other as equals.

I think the north should apologize to the south for invading our territory, killing our people, destroying our farms and factorys, and burning everything in sight to the ground.

The question is, who should apologize? Everyone who fought is dead. An apology from anyone north of Richmond would mean nothing, just as an apology from a southern state would not do anything to right a wrong that happened 150 years ago.

There were many good people in the south who did not believe in slavery. I for one can not imagine someone owning another person, it is not even in my mental process to comprehend this as being right in any way.

Slavery was a black mark on our past that we must never forget, and I regret this ever happened in our country, but we are now in the present and cannot change history. An apology will not change anything, right or wrong.

Let us all focus upon the future, while remembering the sins of the past, so that we do not repeat them.

I'll apologize immediately after their forefathers apologize for selling 'em. This is stupid.
