Hello everyone. My name is chad and I just started my truck driving school. I have been web searching a lot about truck driving, different companies, and what exactly do I want to haul and what do I want to haul. There are so many companies out there to choose from and I really want a company that treats their drivers good and have great trainers to get me started in the right place and where I have options to move up or to drive different routes.

Just talk to people and ask questions, there is nothing wrong with asking for help and there is lots of information being shared all over these boards. There are many companies out there, once you have your class A license you'll find most of the good companies are filled up with low turnover rates, and the others won't accept newbies without X amount of time or miles of experience.

The company I wanted doesn't have any openings, in my area, but check out Dot Foods they have a great rep and great pay.

I'll be looking around for other carriers myself so hopefully I can sign on with someone good too.

Thank you all for your help and welcoming me. In our class we got to get on the simulator. That was so fun and harder than what I thought it would be. I am taking the school at a community college which is 8 weeks long. I have not been in there for a week yet. I am so ready to get out and get a driving job. The teacher was saying they have a 97 percent passing rate where everyone gets their cdl's by taking the skill test. This made me feel good indeed. We have 6 in our class. Thanks again everyone.

Sounds like you're going to a pretty reputable school. 6 in your class sounds about right too. Become a sponge and take advantage of everything available to you.
