Just got mine today. right off the bat, Not happy with the resolution of the screen. My old Garmin had a better display. yet I am happy with the mounting bracket.. Give me a week and I will be honest.

So I just bought one of these 7700's, but came across a big problem... it needs more truck types to choose from, like an oversize flat bed, or in my case, over height... I Drive a Car Hauler ( parkin lot) and with our loads, we get legally as high as 14'2".... we have all the permits to run this high, and are rarely under 13'6".. but with every truck type selected, i can't route my way to dealerships cause every truck type available, i can't select any higher then 13'6"... just wondering if there was anything i can update to fix this.. otherwise its kinda useless in my case...

    Morning,

    1. Are there supposed to be alerts for weigh-stations?
    2. Saw an alert for a width of 41' which is way over the 102" width set in the truck configeration menu. Is this normal?
    3. Get audio alarms but not sure what they mean since there is no visual indication when the alarms sound.

    Thanks,

    Mark

You wouldn't want to do that for two reasons:

    1. The 7700 has a built-in router, making Mapquest and Google redundant.
    2. Neither Mapquest nor Google are going to provide truck routing!

Sorry but the 7700 allows a maximum height of 13' 6". It does not do permit routing.

    1. It does not automatically alert you, but you can view weigh stations by going into Interest Points, choose Along Route, Promiles, and then State Weigh Scales.
    2. It must have been a length warning, not a width warning.
    3. This will be hard to figure out unless I can hear a demo of the sound! I have never heard of this problem.

I own the cobra pro 7700. My wife got for my for christmas and it is the biggest piece of crap out there. No current updates and the unit locks up all the time. I have even sent it back once and just received a new one on 08-03-10 and this one is worse then the last one. I just got off the phone with the technical rep: Brian and they are yet again sending me a return label for the one I just got the beginning of the month.
He tried to tell me there have been not reported problems.
Well I am here to tell you that they are not worth the price.
