I live in MS and in another 7 weeks I will graduate from my trucking school. I am considering in wanting to drive a tanker. Can someone tell me the pros and cons to driving a tanker? How much experience do I need before I can start driving a tanker? Also, which tanker company would be great to work for in MS? I thank you for any information.
What is a good tanker company

Miller Transporters is based in Jackson, MS. They have a very good reputation. Not sure if they hire without experience though.

that's a teamsters job, it might take a little while to be put on the seniority list. just put in an online application, or fax them your resume, and check up on the status of it every 3 months or so, i'm sure they would call you up eventually...

We are hiring now. The company has certain terminals that are O/O only. The rest have company drivers and O/O. All are Teamster except for E. St. Louis. We are union, just not that one.
I have been there 3 months now, and am always running. No shortage of runs at all.
Wouldn't recommend tankers for beginners. You make one mistake with a load of haz-mat.....well......
I have been driving 4 years and it was a big step for me. Lot's more to learn than just driving and backing. -
I thank you everyone for your comments and help. Yeah, tanker is something I have decided I may do later on in my driving career. I believe I will be driving flat beds or some reefers. I am just ready to get out of school so badly. I am so ready to start driving. Thanks again everyone for ya'lls help.
