one thing after another... why do you guys put up with pay delays like that..?? More and more the trucking scene seems like a corrupt pit.
In the days of instant bank transfers, why cant you get paid in a week..?? why put up with it..??
and about insurance and new drivers. What kind of rates would a newbie see without the usual 2 year otr experience..??? is there any way around it..??:biggrin_25513:

    30 days is the norm
I agree its a scam for some body to use yours and my money for free for a month.

Try 60 to 90. It happens.

Or not at all. That happens too.

The rates really don't vary from carrier to carrier, as far as I know. You are an insured carrier and the broker or shipper pays the same basically. The difference being if one carrier can negotiate the rate up a little vs the other one didn't try or wasn't successful at it.

Perhaps you should seriously consider getting into an environment that you view as a "corrupt pit." A lot of money is lost in this business. The odds are against one's success, and if you think you're getting involved with something like this perhaps you should think again.

30 days? In this economy 30 days is great... many business's have to wait 60 or 90 days to get paid!

Let's face it... money is tight. Customers take every opportunity to keep what they have in the bank until the last possible minute. Credit is tight... where a business may have been able to borrow money on a line of credit two years ago those credit lines may have dried up. Banks aren't lending like they used to... they are keeping the cash themselves until our 'leaders' in Washington get on the ball and start leading this economy in the right direction.

Democrat or Republican... the little guy is getting screwed and until that changes expect more of the same... tight money supplies and a faltering economy.

    look at any other business--
krooser is right--if you get paid in 30 thats a bonus
basically most business is conducted that way---do you pay your credit card everytime you use it?---nope 30 days and generally asmall portion
most businesses i have been involved with--its closer to the 90 days when you finally get paid
    its how the world revolves

I will not haul a load for a company or broker that takes longer than 15 days to pay and if i need the load bad enough i factor it , but out of the 20 or so direct shippers i haul for not one of them takes longer than 15 days to pay most weekly or every 10 days. 30,60 or 90 day pay is here because we allow it, try and take 60 or 90 days to pay your bills and see what happens.

30-45 days is the norm in the business world. Why should trucking be any different. One of the benefits of leasing on to a carrier is getting paid after the load delivers or within a week of the company receiving the paperwork.:biggrin_25525:

As stated, 30 days is about the norm. I've got one broker that usually pays within 10 days as normal. Some take longer than 30!

that is good--getting paid that quick---does it depend on the load or the broker?
i am looking into my own truck and auth---but i sure cant float long payments--and wouldnt want to factor everything if i could help it--every little bit of money helps

Depends on the broker. As also stated above, some have quick-pay programs that will get your $$ to you faster and their rates are usually less than what a factoring company charges.
