My birthday present to myself 10 years ago was a heart attack. Now when I go for my DOT physicals I'm told that EVERY 2 years I need a full stress test. Any info or thoughts on this. My company ate it (3000.00) this last year, but I'm doubting that will happen often if again.

Thanks for help or info, TT.

Problem is it is the P.A. at the hospital that does the physicals for the company. She has her book on reg's and she quotes it. This time it is my apnea she is on to. I looked up the stress test issue and to me it is a written recommendation and not in the actual regulations.

But as nuttin' more than a truck driver I have no idea or way to do anything about it. That was why I was glad to find this site. I hoped to hear something good.

Thanks for looking in and commenting folks, I'll keep trying. TT

Does anyone know where you can get a DOT PHYSICAL and pass it regardless. I'm sure there are examiners who like the phrase "Show me the money!"

There have been several Dr. in recent years that have been taken to trail for paasing a driver and he goes out and has a heart attack. Many companies are requiring this also. The thought is that it will reduce the accidents on the road and the health care costs of the company. Wait till CSA2010 goes full on.....sleep apnea is next.

Oh man, and they say that doctors have "The God Complex." And some of them do. But I've had much more personal experience of these ###### PAs having "The God Complex" than I have of doctors.

If your company demands that this is the only person who can do your DOT physical, you may be pretty much screwed. But if you can talk to them about letting a reasonable doctor or pa do it, you may be able to get by.

OTOH, there just might be a particular reason for the pa to want YOU to have this test. She may be aware of something you are not.

Oh wonderful. So you are willing to risk your life, and the life of everyone else on the road, because you don't have enough brains to get out from behind the wheel if you can't pass your DOT? Nice, real nice.

Did you buy your CDL on the black market as well?

Hate to break it to you but the stress test and the sleep apnea thing is there. I don't think they are "have to's" but they are in there. I went to the fmsca web site and downloaded the form for the physical and read it. It tells what they are supposed to be looking for and what disqualifies and what doesn't. That is where you will find these 2 things that everyone is concerned about

Go to Kicken Chicken thread 4 or 5 below this one and you can open the link from the fmsca abou medical

Driver this questions does not even deserve to be answered but I will. This questions is one of the big reasons that we are going through the junk that we are right now. There is very few conditions that will totally take you off the road. However, there are many conditions that untreated will take you off the road. Now if you take care of yourself early, it will be much easier to maintain your medical card.

So Find a good Doc. get your problems treated, feel better and live to beet the 61 year old life expectancy of truck drivers

    oldedge Thanks this.
