Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

The wife and I had an auto for two weeks and we requested to get back into the 10speed. What happened to us was they suck in snow. I-80 Wy in a white out- you want to stay in 4th- #### thing shifts on you even in manual mode- just because I got a little to slow. Nearly slide off the road- lucky for me we were at the bottom of the hill.
I will say on the cross bronx expressway they auto was real nice to have. -
can you say grammar/spellcheck???.....haha jk

I've driven 8,9,10,13 and 18 speed box's for most of my career, I've driven an 18 sp auto box that still had a clutch pedal, I didn't care much for it, it was OK, but it was very easy to confuse the computer, I am now driving an Iveco truck that has a 16sp Auto and no clutch pedal, it's far superior to the eaton auto thats for sure. I can drive it as a semi-auto sequential shift manual, or I can leave it in full auto and let it do it's own thing, bearing in mind that fully loaded my truck weighs in at about 149000 pounds I think it does a stellar job.
I still do miss changing gears sometimes, but I do prefer an auto now

From on/off road to OTR and the auto shift I drive still sucks. Darned thing missed a down shift on a steep grade. It shifts way too slow.
Then it tries to start over, in 2nd gear. I had to pull that hill in low, Lucky I only grossed out at about 70k.
Taking it to the shop tonight, and back east on Sunday. -
Auto's are for lazy people and for drivers who can't figure out how to double clutch, all proffessional truck drivers use a manual gear box.
-
Why do you need to double clutch, I thought all real truck drivers only used the clutch for starting and stopping.
-
I've been driving a newer model International with no sleeper, pulling doubles, (52,500 tare). They don't do hills at all. The 65 gov screws you going up a hill, tranny won't down shift until it hits 1500 RPM EXACTLY, by then it's all over. Downhill was no problem with engine brake.

Not all of us are expert spellers like u sir.
BUT for my auto i can say i LOVE MINE.
Its a volvo with a clutch and I've learned to shift it manually also. It's really cool. -
I know I can't spell or I got poor grammer
