I am looking to buy a long wheelbase 389 70" for my business. I own a deli that will be introducing a line of sausages for supermarket sales, and I plan on using this truck as a rolling kitchen to support the product.

To make a long story short, I am considering building a 305" rolling glider that could use a pre emission engine. I want a tricked out, attention getting unit that will draw where it's working a company display.

    So, my questions are:
What are the effects of resale value using a rolling glider vs. new?
Ease of warranty work location for the engine if built by someone like PP or Fitzgerald?
Final costs of a glider vs. factory built?
Any other advice of questions that you may suggest to ask?

Here is a picture of my 53' kitchen trailer that I already own.

    Thanks in advance.

If I was in the market for New...Glider is the ONLY way to go in my opinion. As for warranty with a single turbo cat built correct you will not need it so its a non issue...the rest of the truck has Factory warranty so any pete dealer can help. I help a friend recently with his....Loaded out was a lil less than 80k, bought a wrecked truck at the sale for 9k , pulled the engine and trans...went through the engine cut counterbores, remanned head, changed cam and turbo...sent transmission out for checking and we called it good.....used driveshafts from wreck also and then only had to have one more fabbed...probably had 110k in it with all the chrome and extras....

In your case a I think I would go with new over a glider. Lots of folks will see it some might get "offended" buy a "dirty" engine. If your a bussiness trying to draw customers I would not want to chase any off. Having a clean idle sticker might help with the tree huger crowd. You might save a few bucks going with a glider but the money you have invested already its not that big of a differance.

It honestly depends on who you are selling it to, id look at a glider with an old 3406E before id look at a brand new truck for #### sure, but some folks dont feel that way.

Id strongly sugjest you check out this truck Another board member has it for sale and is retiring, it is a #### nice truck and you cant beat it for the money.

It would look very good infront of your trailer.

Keep in mind you dont even have to go with a new truck to do what you are doing, it isnt like you are going to be putting down 4,000 miles a week with it.

Fitzgerald truck sales out of Crossville, TN puts together some of the cleanest glider kits I've ever seen. They paint match the motors to the color of the truck and the wiring harness look clean and factory neat. Their prices are way better than brand new emissions P.O.S. trucks and they come with engine/drivetrain warranties about as good as new. Google them and see what you can find.
