Nope not thinking the trans has ever been rebuilt or replaced. Just bought the truck this summer, and it just started grinding when I was hauling wheat. It's a Canadian truck, with a little over a million KMs on it. About what does a reman 13 speed cost me?

it depends on where you get it from, and what model it is, but I think you should be able to trade yours in for a core and get a reman for around $3200 give or take a couple hundred. if you look on the right side of the trans from underneath there should be a tag on it that has the model number on it, somthing like rtlo-16913a, just for example, and that is your model number. then you can google reman trans for a better price idea.

Try changing the transmission air regulator. This sound is very common when synco is going bad. Changing the regulator may fix the problem. Also try changing the splitter from low to high in neutral, see if it takes the grinding noise away?
pudamobile Thanks this. -
I have a similar problem in my 05 Volvo. When going from 5th to 6th ( straight 10 eaton ) the shifter catches real bad on the slide above 8th trying to go to 6th. It doesn't grind but just hangs up and you have to almost force it past that catch. Any ideas on that? I have talked to a couple other people that have the same issue with the same truck / transmission. I have been told that it's just a flaw with this particular transmission but was curious if any of you have had this issue.

My 98 Century grinds 1 out of 100 shifts when going into high been doing it for a year now. It does it more in the winter months then in the summer months. I had a quote of $1000 - 1500 to fix the sync gear at rear of transmission.

It grinds regardless of throwing the switch in neutral or from 4th going to 5th. When I get it to a truck place I'll have them check up on the air regulator.

It's a RTO-11613, if that helps. I've got the shop looking at the air regulator...

It will, and not for the better. If your company dont care about fixing thing like that I willing to bet they let a lot of important go. They would fix it or id be gone.

should be around $2500 for a reman trans plus labor to install, from the prices I saw on the internet. or a good shop can replace the synchro and gear for around $800-1200 depending on what parts it needs and how much labor they charge.

Our 13 eaton/fuller was doing that too and then it started misting oil out of the splitter switch. The shop replaced the seals in the shift cylinder and it was just like new.
