My worst was a long time ago and I don't knwo if it's still around. Pheonix AZ, not the sapp bro but the other one. There was only two back then. I havn't run west coast much in 9 years now. First off it was a "locker room" style shower and the floor was literally black. I went and got 8 towels to make a path in with and by the time I got out my feet burned. That was ol school trucking folks, liek I said I doubt it's still like that. That just wouldn't fly in this day and age

The worst showers have got to be in Canada, the showers in Petro-Canada "truck stops". Some of those trucks stops are fully automatic, no people there working. You fuel yourself with your Petro-Canada fuel card (if you have one), then you can use your fuel card as a key to the shower. There was 2 of them and they were 2 in 1, shower and washroom. Every truck driver that fuels goes in there and does #1, some #2 and some do whatever...:puke:
And then some one has to use this place as a shower. It is impossible to describe how discusting the place was.:smt078 No one to complain to and no one cleaning the shower.

Hey, ran accross this thread and had to make a comment for what it's worth.
When Kenny was driving a route and I would go with him the TA's we showered at were nice and clean and only ever had one problem with a shower once. The hot water was all that came on and then the shower wouldn't shut off.

Of course this is based on the 2 TA's that we went to along each route he was on, one was in Commerence City, CO. and Los Cruses(?), NM.

Just my thoughts on the subject

MedicineMan, here is a quote from your post:
"My worst was a long time ago and I don't knwo if it's still around. Pheonix AZ, not the sapp bro but the other one..."

I know of the truckstop you're talking about. It's not there anymore. It was razed and replaced with a Pilot. I remember that place well. I'll never forget it, in fact. I stopped in there in August 95, fueled up, and grabbed a shower. This shower was unlike any I had seen on the road. I never saw any others like it after, either.

When you took a shower at this place, you went in through two swinging "saloon" style doors. You picked a spot, called it your own, and went to town. There was a drainage trough in the floor that went past each stall. Those who were downhill got to watch all the filth run by from their uphill neighbors. I think the black floor was mere concrete, and I felt like a cow in a milking parlor. It was a nasty place, man. It was probably one of the nastiest.

There is another bad one in Plant City, Florida. Or at least it was there in 1998. Dirt lot, ######, thieves.....the works.

Well my worst shower was in Desert Storm (90) Out in the big sand box was a temporary shower. Had a metal tank that held water that was hauled in by fuel trucks. Water had a diesel smell to it, but hey you take what you can find. The trick is to open the valve, get wet, shut water off. Soap up and hope there is enough water left to rinse off. Well there wasn't. What could be worse than being soaped up with diesel water and no water to rinse off in? Well let me tell you; a big gust of wind to blow sand all over your soaped up diesel smelling body. Towel dry, felt like I was using sand paper.:biggrin_2554:

NoTarps, I've heard that sort of thing before. It pisses me off, really. The US taxpayer plops down, what, 400 billion these days on defense? And look what the soldiers get.....tents that blow apart in the desert wind, Humvees that don't have enough armor (and drivers have to reinforce on their own dimes), and this bad water thing you're talking about.

What the hell are they doing with all that mulla at the Pentagon? Even with all their pet projects, there is still plenty left over to spend on the grunts. Are they STILL spending fifty bucks on a roll of tissue paper or 100 bucks on a pencil?

The troops in Iraq should have armored cars, spas, swimming pools, and five-star hotels, all paid for by the US government.

They're good at skimping, but it sure didn't take them long to build that hospital in San Antonio to hide all the amputees. They're also very, very good at hiding pictures of the coffins coming back from ChevRaq.

They closed Trexlertown about 1 year, maybe 2 years ago. Bout time too. I would park there but thats about it. If I needed something to eat, or to use the bathroom, I would go back to the WaWa. They had truck parking but usually it is packed.

Yeah, they really need to do something about the truck stops in that area. I had a delivery in Allentown last week and didn't know Trexler was shut down. I just needed a parking space, that's it. It's been bulldozed and there's a CVC pharmacy there now. Part of the lot is still there but they have it blocked off.
I went back down the road a few miles to the Bandit truck stop and was able to back into a screwed up parking space there. Luckily I didn't get blocked in. I don't think they even have showers there.

    Where is the WaWa?
