miles per day

Hey there
okay on average after waiting to get loaded/unloaded and stopping for breaks (if you take them) how many miles can a person expect to drive in a day on the 11/14hr rule. As being a rookie, I got about 300 to 400 miles depending on my wait time at the mills, is that about right?

if.........and only if...........you go by a very simple formula of 50 miles traveled in 1 hour. you "should" get up to 550 miles.........per day. it's NOT uncommon to get 600 miles.........for 11 hours driving........

but, traffic, road speed, will either shorten or lengthen this mileage

and you SHOULD take a break every once in a while. you are entitled to them. just DO NOT go past your 14 hours total time driving/on duty times.

try and go up to line 1 as much as possible, to conserve line 4 time.

 

of course in the western states where the speed limit is 75, if your truck can do that, and spending an entire day driving, you can log over 700 miles in 11 hours.

 

600-650/day in a 64mph governed truck w/ elogs.

 

Well on average, 700 high to 400 low means an average of 550 miles. If you get this amount day in and day out, I would say you are probably making pretty good money.

 

i say from 550- 650 you can do depending on conditions and the speed and the wieght of ur load in a 11 hr driving period

 

take your average speed and multiply by 11

I'm learning... now if I could just get tarping down as I'm spending way to much time ( rather be safe then sorry) so far all my loads has to be tarped.
I know as a new rookie I shouldn't expect more then 1500-1700 miles a week

If you are basing this on a load over 700 miles with no stops, then you should be able to do 500-600 as a new driver. Once you learn the ropes you could probably do a little more.

 

It all depends....are you in New Jersey or Nebraska? Winter or spring? logging 100% legal? Electronic logs? How long did it take to get loaded/unloaded? Time of day (rush hr traffic)? etc etc etc. There are 101 variables to consider. But thats just my opinion.
